After a ridiculous chain of coincidences/fate/luck or whatever you want to call it, I'm now the owner of a 2016 MP3 500. I've been riding my 400 for 4? years and I'm looking forward to moving to a model with ABS (and being able to better keep up with my husband, who also has a 2016 500). I'll miss my pet carrier for sure, but the 500 came with a larger topbox (56L vs the 46L I currently have), so I'm hoping that helps.

If you've ridden both, are there any major differences that are worth noting?

I've also realized that I need to redo all of my favorite mods. If you've ridden both and modded both, is the 500 more challenging? Easier? More or less the same? I've started going through the forum and bookmarking threads, but is the tupperware just as much of a pain to get off? Haven't found a video for that yet.

My 400 is going to my 19yo, who's currently riding the 250, and then we'll sell the 250. I hope my daughter knows how lucky she is, getting handed a scooter that's already been tweaked and upgraded to perfection.

What mods were on the 400?

I probably should have been more specific, huh?

I hadn't started the engine mods (Fuzzy washer, air intake, etc) so most of my mods are related to the electrical system. Added airhorn and the associated relay & wiring, tapping into blinker wiring for both front and back additional blinkers, replacing headlights with HID lights (although I am hoping to not need that with the 500--my husband's 500 headlights appear to be better than my 400's were), adding wiring harnesses for power outlets and auxiliary accessories, underbody lighting, adding additional brakelights, etc. My husband has had his 500 for a couple of years, but he hasn't done anything extra to it so I have no idea what the wiring is like in comparison or what it looks like under the plastic.

Engine mods were on my to-do list for this year, so I'm glad I don't have to re-do those!
