Centralising drum brakes

With some of my older drum braked motorcycles after the front wheel has been removed and then replaced, before I tighten the spindle and clamps completely I always `centralise` the brake by spinning the wheel, stop it with brake then while holding brake on I tighten everything. Can this be done on a Vespa drum ?
