A while back I decided it would be a good idea to lurch into a red tool box I had sitting on the floor while putting the GTS on it's center stand. Left a nice deep scratch across the front fender. This scratch, of course, drives my OCD wild. I'm fixated on it.

The other day I had a mobile scratch repair service swing by to give me a quote to fix it. He told me he could fill in the reflector holes for a nice clean look. Bonus!

I happened to have the fender crest removed because I was considering the Rizoma one. Unfortunately it has a smaller footprint and the OEM left a depression in the fender that would not be covered by the Riz. It would require repair.

The repair guy said he could fill the fender crest holes in for a completely clean look. I've been kicking the idea around for a few days now. I've seen photos of fenders w/o the crest and it has a clean sporty look. However, the crest is a signature Vespa design element.

Given the choice, would you keep or remove?

For how pricey Rizoma kit is, I'm shocked it doesn't perfectly substitute for the original.

The only sticker that you cannot remove on a Vespa is the Vespa writing, the rest may not even be there.
It could also lose all the parts, turn with only the engine, the wheels and the handlebars but the Vespa lettering would support everything that remains.
When you talk to someone you have to remind them that strength is in the name, have a note of distinction in the name, otherwise buy an anonymous japanese scooter!

The first large frame Vespa, the GT200 Granturismo never had the crest.

The crest first appeared with the GTS 250 in 2006.

So yours will now look like a GT.

As for scratches, I get upset with the first one, but after that, the scooter doesn't own me any more.

Two of my three running GTS are covered with scrapes and scratches.

But they run like the wind.

That works for me.

I actually like how the Rizoma is slightly less bulbous, but you can flat out tell that something else was there prior. It's almost like Piaggio didn't wait for the paint to dry before installing the crest!

I have other scratches that I'm OK with. This one is just right across the front. Shining like a beacon of my parking carelessness!

Not a fan of the crest. Not sure why it is even there. Vote to remove.
