I finally figured out how to solve the problem of pulling over to answer an important cell phone call. Instead of reaching into my inside jacket pocket for the phone, and pulling off my helmet to try to get to it before it stops ringing, I found another way. I bought a Universal Phone Cradle ($19.99) at a Verizon store. I mounted it to the inside of my windshield with the self-sticking glue tape. I put it up there so I could see the Caller I.D. when the phone rings, then flip open the lid of the phone to talk using the speakerphone setting, and listen, all without removing my modular flip-open helmet. Be sure to pull over safely and shut off your scooter to talk. Once mounted, the holder is infinitely adjustable in almost any direction. Just be sure to mount it high enough so it won't bump into the instrument panel when you hit those pot holes! Another option was to mount it to one of the black plastic knee panels above the glove compartment, but I was afraid I would loosen it with my knees. I tested it on the road today for over two hours, with no problems.

I let the glue tape cure for 24 hours before mounting the phone.

What do you think? Photos of the installation are here: http://photoshow.comcast.net/watch/Kb5FE3fb

I took the liberty of grabbing a screen shot and hosting it here on the site. Hope that's okay.

Universal Phone Mount
Jess, that's just fine. I would have posted the photos here, but wasn't sure how to do it. Thanks!

Looks great ! , but you may want to add a small lanyard to the unit in case the tape lets go, I do the same with my GPS. Bear.

Lanyard, etc.
Bear, thanks for the tip. Even a string tied to the thing might be appropriate when that glue warms up this Summer. It might keep the cage behind me from crushing my cell phone when it bounces off...ha! We'll see....

I just used a bootlace, made loops in each end, then wrapped with heavy duty thread and sealed it with fabric glue. Worked great. Bear.

Has anyone tried using the glue that is used to mount rear view mirrors to the front window in cars?

Mirror glue
Bronwyn, I know that the rear view mirror glue won't hold onto a car windshield in these hot Arkansas summers.
