Does the GTS250 have a parking brake? I know the Burgman's, Majesty's and other Maxi Scooters do, but I can't recall seeing one on any 'modern' Vespa.

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks,

With a center stand, you don't need one... side stand on the GT/GTS seems a bit too easy to knock over due to the weight distribution...

on a side note, my Atlantic 500 does not have a parking brake, much to my chagrin...

In some countries I think a parking brake is required when you get to certain weights, dimensions, or engine size. Therefore most of the maxi scoots bigger than 250cc seem to have them.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot that the side stand was an option. And thanks lomunchi for that pic, I forgot about those lever locks too.

The Honda Metropolitan has a parking brake AND the center stand can be locked in the down position by a lever under the seat.

I wish we had something like this.

I have a Majesty and posed the question on another forum as to which option I should use when parking the bike when running errands and/or working -- side stand with parking brake, or center stand. Many said side stand with parking brake, for if someone bumped the bike forward while on the center stand, it could fall. The answer seemed to make sense, particularly when you factor in the steering column can be locked when turning it to the far left. That, with the parking brake, makes the bike fairly stable.

That being said, I have another scoot without a parking brake, and I always use the center stand when parking it.

If nothing else, it would be nice to be able to choose whether on not to use the parking brake...

It's so cool that someone (Max?) should come up with an aftermarket device to allow us Vespa owners to lock the center stand from under the seat. I'd buy it.

We have another context for the term Parking Brake or Handbrake....a.k.a Ball and Chain, Trouble and Strife.....
