Hey gang!

Like most I also feel that the "pod" turn signals destroy the lines of the LX series bikes. Shortly after I got the LX50 for my wife I wanted to lose them if possible and my search led me here (Hello everybody!) were I discovered that it's a no-go for the LX50. So, sadly I had to buy a bike that it would work with I now have a Vespa S and the "pods" destroy the trapezoid S headset.

Enter the Scooterwest... LX150 Euro Turn Signal Kit

BEFORE

AFTER

The instructions that came with the kit were very easy to follow, the gang at Scooterwest.com really have compiled a great instruction sheet for the regular LX150 which works just as well for the Vespa S. The conversion kit is great and works brilliantly. So, I've even lifted a few of the instructions from their sheet, so without further ado...

INSTRUCTIONS

This is a video of the process in slide show format.

Here is a short video of the completed blinker conversion.

I hope this helps someone out here

guts
being that the guts of the S are exactly the same as the standard LX there should have been no problem..

Pics!

Hi Blaksvn
I have a question for you!! What size were the holeplugs from the turn signal pods?? I have a LX150 and want to go ahead and make the Euro turnsignal mod without the kit. My plan is to pull the wireing down out of the handle bars, and mount them into the running light reflector housing right next to the running light bulb. This will take a bulb change to an amber bulb as the bulbs in the pods are clear. That way I keep the white running lights and get an amber turn signal.
If I can figure a safe way to run the wires I also plan to replace the reflectors front and back with a strip of flexable LED's I found through another thread at customdynamic.com. They have lighting modules that let them work as running lights at 30% then as blinkers at 100% to 0%. I will be doing the main part of the measureing and such this weekend, and may even get the pods removed. If I can get the plug sizes I can pick those up locally and have them ready by the weekend.

I'm not sure how the indicator issue works in the US but so we dont spoil the lines of our scoots alot of people use bar ends

That was the first mod I did to my S. I literally rode it from the dealer to Motorsport (scooterwest.com) and picked up the kit on my way home.

Someone asked what size the plugs were. They are included in the kit so unless he measured them before he put them in you are either going to have to email Motorsport and ask them or remove the signals and measure the hole.

Orchard Supply has em. Just get a handfull and return what you don't use

This is how I did it except deleted running lights -- cut and spliced to existing running lite connectors.

If you're splicing could do running/signal combo 2 ways without modifying housing.
1 )use running lite connector with diode to isolate circuits.
2) use brake lite connector and 2 element bulb.

Great job and even greater instructions Blaksvn! So well done a 5 year old could do this mod.

The only thing I would have done different is add LED's,the ones with side firing lights, brighter.Somewhere on MV is a thread where a member installed blinker white/amber lights to his GTS.When he was indicating a turn either left or right the marker light would blink amber and when not turning the bulbs were white.I'm sure this was done thru one bulb on each side.Really cool.

Added pic to show the proper LED's to use.See how the lights go around the sides of the unit vs other LED's that have only lights at the end.The side firing LED's mimic the stock bulbs in that light is cast off in a 360 radius,vs LED's that have lights just on the end.
