If the scooter appears red, it is because the light of the red wavelength is being reflected more than the others. In fact, the redder the object appears, the more of the other wavelengths is being absorbed. The weight of all those extra photons is really gonna slow you down dude. |

Nono, see white is slow and easy...like clouds. Yellow, on the other hand, is higher than red without being white...

You younger generation are all hopeless! Don't you read any history?
It was proved back in 1955, with the advent of the Vespa GS150, that silver is fastest. I thought everyone knew that! Mike |

A lot depends on the model as well. For instance red MAY be the fastest GT/GTS but for the LX, Aurora Blue is fastest by far followed by Dark Plum, then everything else.
The LX red's not so good, an in-between red. Not vintage, candy-apple or fire engine. Just "red" with not much else to recommend it. And the black, being an absence of color, simply provides the rider and observers with the illusion that it's going faster than it really is. This has been proven in studies involving optics, neuroscience and relativity. And don't even get me started on those yellow ETs. |

I love you guys - but WHITE...DIAMOND WHITE is the fastest. Diamond, being the hardest natural substance slices through the air making any drag coefficient virtually imperceptable.

Sources close to Vespa's R&D group disclosed information about the fastest color to "The Smoking Gun". Because of some legal threats related to proprietary research at Piaggio the information has still not surfaced. I found out about it accidently and I'll say no more.
After extensive windtunnel work at one of the DOD facilities in an unnamed location Piaggio confirmed that all production colors performed equally in all tests. Senior researchers suspected this outcome. What was unexpected was the testing of an LX150 owned by one of the research associates that had a custom paint job. This non-production color out performed all production colors. Scientists at Piaggio and DOD are still guessing at the reasons but DOD sources say the United States Air Force is currently looking at the data for possible uses with their tactical fighter development. The color in question in the Mary Kay hot pink. This color is dangerous on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. I don't think we'll see the fastest color in the showroom this year. I wouldn't look for any pink aircraft either. |

Black is really fast. look at the SR-71 Blackbird. Held all the aeronautic speed records for 50 years!
But you know what finally beat it? Uh huh, you know... the nebulous Aurora! And do you know where they got the inspiration to name the Aurora Aurara? You got it. One of NASA's engineers tested every model of Vespa available. All the ETs were the same speed, and the GTs were the same speed, and testing of pre-production GTSs resulted in all colors being the same speed. But when they tested the LX model, the Aurora Blue was 23.7% faster than all the other LX models (which, by the way, were all the same speed, so no difference among the lower colors on an LX, either.) The Aurora Blue was so fast, that it crippled sales of GTs, and with the upcoming release of the GTS, Piaggio used NASA's data and decided to discontinue the Aurora Blue LX, lest it devastate the sales of the supposedly top of the line GTS. Hence, Aurora Blue IS the fastest color! |

I'm going to assume Burgundy is the fastest color, since I can kick all of your GT/GTS butts on my BV500.

I actually can't say what the fastest color is. But I do know my LX150 goes faster with a healthy coating of road grime and road salt....
Once I clean it up it tippy-toes along. steve |

The actual science behind it is a little over my head...but it has something to do with the molecule structure of the Green paint that cause it to benefit from the Solar Wind. So much so that even at night the sunlight reflecting off the moon gives the Green scooter a power boost. The only time the other colors come close to the Vintage Green is on a moon-less night, and then only at the very darkest of the hours. |

Discovered by Pavel Cerenkov in 1934, while he was studying the effects of radioactive substances on liquids, he noticed that water surrounding certain radioactive substances emitted a blue glow (see image of nuclear reactor below, emitting Cerenkov Radiation). This is the visual equivalent of a sonic boom-- particles outpacing the speed of light. Catch ya later! 8) ⚠️ Last edited by pdxvespa on UTC; edited 1 time

Black is fastest.
This is inherently obvious if you think about it: People on black scooters have to wear other brighter (and therefor, slower) colors (silver helmets and red jackets for example) so others can actually see them when they are flying down the road. They are that fast. I believe this settles the issue once and for all so you can all go back to whatever you were doing. You can thank me later. If you can catch up. |

My usually very dirty silver seems to speed right along. Maybe when summer arrives and it's able to stay clean it'll slow down.

Vintage Green has the lowest drag coefficient, thereby getting better gas mileage than other colors.

I hate to disagree with you all, since I'm relatively new here, but Midnight Blue is definitely the fastest. No fancy-schmancy reason. It just Is.
