I like the look of the SS 180 rims and how they sit on the scoot. They almost have this sort of "dip dish" kind of look to them.

My questions are:

Are these rims a bit wider than my stock Sprint rims?

Can I fit these rims on my Sprint?

Where in the hell can I find these rims??

Those with more knowledge will confirm or deny, but I think these rims are the same as those for the GS160. Due to the deep-dish offset, they will not work on any other Vespa.

I agree, they do look good.

The offset will be wrong for your bike. These rims were made only for the SS180's and GS 160's. If you get your hands on one of these models, the rims can be purchased at Motorsport scooters in SD.

Hmm...would I need the SS180 and GS160 hubs to make them fit??

As said above, the GS and SS rims are very different than every other bike's. Where the Sprint / P / whatever rims are uneven, meaning one side is really deep and one is really shallow ...so they sit off set on the rim, the GS and SS are even mounted - both halves are the same.

If you look at a GS / SS hub, you'll find it's very low profile, made to match the rims so that the tire gets centrally mounted.

If you tried to fit GS / SS rims on your P-series or whatever, you'd find the wheel would stick a good ways out, probably rub on your fender and probably make your steering wonky.

You'd need the hub to make it fit, and i don't think you can just slap a GS /SS hub on your scoot. I could be wrong about that, but i've never seen anyone do it before on a non-GS/SS bike.

Correct. You'd need to replace the fork as everything about the GS/SS was different here. The GS/SS fork was the best vespa made till the p series came out. If you were going to all the trouble of changing out the fork I'd go with the p/pk as they are more available and work better.

The GS/SS rims are a little wider but you'd be better off looking into the wide rims offered by SIP or such. Not sure it performs any better but they look cool.

Thanks guys....yeah it was late and I was lookn' at a ton of GS and SS photos and they are such awesome scoots.

I'm gonna go for the SIP wide tire in the rear, but wanted the front tire not to be stock width...it's just too narrow and wanted something with a little bit more width.

There is a Rally for sale on Scoot.net and they claim that there are "SS180 wide rims" mounted http://scoot.net/classifieds/forsale.html?id=15418. I don't really see SS180 rims on it, more like the SIP wide tire kit maybe?

The wide tire trick with these is to replace the narrow half of a regular rim with the corresponding GS/SS half. Then you get a rim that it slightly larger and can take a slightly larger tire.
