My machinist told me to find out if the rings that come with new pistons are Chrome Moly.

I plan on buying an original Italian piston, not the Indian version...

Oh, I'm just going stock here.

Does anyone know? I could call a scooter shop, but...you know.

I dont think so... none that i've ever seen, anyways. Particularly if it's stock. Performance top end kits might.

Thanks - I'll do some more checking.

My machinist also said that it looked like someone let an angry cat loose inside the top end. I guess that means it was scratched up a bit.

My crank was also bent, but could be straightened for $20. Rather than a new one for $200.

you probably had a circlip come loose and wind up in the top end. Mine has had that happen as well, and it does scratch the hell out of the combustion area.

As far as I know, only some of the fancy Malossi kits take chrome rings. You can tell because they are shiny on the edge where they meet the barrel.
