I'm looking for the closest match for the "British Racing Green" color. I've seen this color on a lot of older Triumphs. The only thing I have found so far is Dupont color code 8450. Anyone out there know where I can find this color? Thanks!

There are tons of BRG's out there. A lot depends on the manufacturer of the car and the racing era.

The very early Aston Martin BRG was dark while the mid/late 1950's green is almost identical to the green GTV color; while on the Jaguars it was much, much darker.

I say if you like the Triumph, troll some Triumph sites and use that color, if you like a particular shade, use it. Nobody is really going to correct you because this kind of stuff will make your head spin.

Defenders were Coniston Green, the older ones were one of three greens: Limestone (like Windbreakers bike), pastel green and bronze green....

Sorry that I wasn't too specific. Yes, I want the early Triumph racing green color. I think it was called Conifer Green. I do not like the dark Jag green. I found the formula for the Triumph racing green for Dupont. Anyone know where I can purchase Dupont paint products? Thanks

I saw a Defender with that paint color for sale and I thought that it was a stock color.
That's a sweet Dicovery, I used to have a SIII 109" and sold it to pay for the restoration of another SIII (88" 1976) that my dad bought new back in the day.

Nice! Yeah, I painted the lower trim and now the hood a satin black. It matches well with the front/rear bumpers. I wish I had the $ to buy a mid 90's Defender 90. I still drool when I see one on the road.

Glasseye had his painted GTS a version of BRG, not sure who's version but...

Quick search revealed both Glasseye's scoot and the LR Series Limestone color GTS owned by Windbreaker, both on page 2

My '72 SIIA is metallic orange

Thanks for the links. Yeah, the green is a bit dark on Glasseye's scoot. Just a hint of yellow or whatever and that's where I want to be at I think. The orange looks very cool by the way! I've always liked black/orange combo

Here are a few examples of the color that I'm looking for. I believe it's more of a "Triumph Racing Green" OEM code GN25 that I'm after:

Some guy on the LA Craigslist had a 78 Rally in this color and it looked really good. I tried to track his ad down to talk to him, but it's gone

No it was a totally different scoot. This guy was in Silverlake. I know Collins scoot. His is powder coated with some sort of metallic green. Totally different color...or should I say colour.

I like green, and I like b/s'ing on the Internets about whatever...

But in the interest of solving your problem, uh... would it be weird if I asked if you've considered an auto paint store?

No, not really a problem, but it seems to be a very obscure color to come by. Check out this guy's quest to get it right: http://home.comcast.net/~rhodes/paint.html

And yeah, it would be weird to ask some $10 an hour dick at Macco if he can come up with the wrong color. Yes I do have some phone numbers down to some custom shops that hopefully can help. Since I saw the color on a scoot, I'd thought maybe someone here could help.

Right on! My dream was to own a Defender 90 some day...but I will take the Disco for right now. Mine is a 94 with 109k miles on the clock. It's a real good runner. Lucas oils are your best friend with these things. It's all ready for the snow this weekend, there should be a ton of it out here in the mountains.

That color is very close. I would want just a shade lighter. Does he have his own spray shop in SB? We go down there a lot, my wife is from SB.

I hope this link helps you out. It has the PPG and DuPont codes for several racing greens.

He farms it out to a guy he has been using for years.

Does very nice work, fast too.

Fixed some light body damage & had it back to me in 2 weeks.

when I went about picking my scooter's paint color, I turned to the world of vintage porsche. They have many colors, at least 4 greens and I chose one of them.
I have also seen vintage MG's in what they called BRG, you might want to look there for some codes that could be translated into today's standard dupont colors.
