i have started putting my bike back together.

the shock is a sebac,i was'nt crazy about the white and red thing,so i pulled the covers off the old one and freshened em up a bit. 8)

the mud gaurd i fabricated from a old beat up p fender, will see if it needs stiffening once i get it on the road.

clear or amber?,i kinda like the old amber ones.

all comments are welcome as i am not set in stone on this bike.

clear all the way.

welding rod makes for great fender supports....

if you had that hub off, make sure that you put on a new peen'd nut-- they're designed for one use only.

The clear ones. I guess if you were going for a real stock OG look then go with the amber ones, but the clear ones look really cool. Nice work too on the fender!

i was hopeing to here more comments on the fender and sure enough i get lenses.

steiveinsac,i like the amber where ever i go,it just seems right.

t5,i am putting a smoked one on next to see if i like, problem is i don't want to swap em cause alot people run smoked and clear out here and i might wanna be different and run a fresh set of amber

Jimmy, I've got to back you up on this one.

Maybe it was the year I spent in Italy, but I'd definitely go with the orange lights. The clear and (eeesh!) smoked ones just look too gangsta or guido to me.
They create extraneous visual "noise" that sort of says, "Look at me!" and detracts from the unity of the overall design.

When I got my BMW (318ti, the small hatchback) years ago, I had had luscious thoughts of putting on clear white lenses with clear bulbs all around, right up until I actually had the car in my hands, then I realized it would look cheap, and saw the orange lenses as a design cue going back many years through their product line, which, if absent, would look kind of like a "hole" in the visual impression of the viewer.

I guess the only exception for me is if the color of the lenses on the scooter lights would make them seem to "disappear" into the background, creating a pre-signal look, which I like. But they'd have to really fade into the background and not subtly call attention to themselves.

- Eric

ps: if you've been a harp player forever, ever hear of Bill Dicey?

My guess jimmy is to lightly sand it. MAsk what you want masked and
use HIGH HEAT ENGINE ENAMEL. I believe Duplicolo makes a good one and it's
available at all the local Kragen's and Pep Boys.

3-4 coats should take 2 cans. Let it dry 24-48 hours before attaching it to the
scoot.

Hey Jimmy, are you saying that in the pic that's a Sebac w/the stock covers slipped over it? If that's the case, that's pretty stealthy, never considered that.

Nah! not really they don't match up exactly but when was the last time that happened when you bought aftermarket parts??

I just used the long screws that came with them to file out the holes a little, no big problem. Now trying to match up the lenses, lens covers and the frame holes NOW that was a pain in the arse

BUT WORTH IT.......

a good autoparts store, PAW, summit, and sometimes an old skool hardware store.

when you use it follow the directions closely, they're there for a reason.

assembly grease is fine for cables and levers and such but isn't made for use in wheel bearings. make sure you use good bearing grease for anything in the hub, pack it in there real good
