With the Scooter Cannonball Run 2006 fast approaching, I thought it would be good to put together a post with links to all the blogs and journals following along on the ride. If you have a link, please add it to this thread, and then one of the moderators will add it to this first post. Mostl likely, the remainder of the posts will be deleted to keep this thread quick and clean. Don't be offended if you see your post gone after it has been added to this one.

Thanks, and good luck and safe riding to all participants. I'll see you as you pass through North Ridgeville, Ohio (just down the road from my house) on Saturday, September 16, and I'll probably join in for that ride from there to POC in Cleveland.

Have a blast!

(This Cannonball Run is a 3293 mile endurance Event. We ride scooters and we try as much as possible to take two lane highways or back roads where the speed limits are better suited to scooters.
The Cannonball Run starts September 10, 2006 at Pacific City, Oregon and ends in Orange, New Jersey at Scooters Originali 9 days later. We will meet up in Portland and then ride to Pacific City for the Run From The Sun rally. We will take highway 20/26 whenever possible. This is known as the Oregon Trail which you can see here. This is the primary route we base our route off of.)

Hey, MarkH, does Rocket (Canada's only Cannonball entry) blog? Looks like Scootertrumps.ca has gone missing.

Don't think so. My understanding is that he will update the VCOC board from time to time. That's what he's done at any rallies we have traveled to.

Cannonballin for Habitat - NOLA
I will be the only ET4 rider in the Cannonball...and riding for Habitat for Humanity New Orleans - Musicians' Village Project

Me and my Vespa ET4 , with a modified 150cc engine, will soon be scooting across the United States from Pacific City, Oregon to Orange, New Jersey in Scooter Cannonball 2006, a 10-day, 3,293-mile endurance race from Sept 10, 2006– Sept 19, 2006 that will test both man and machine.

For this adventure, Jay Meduri, proprietor of Poor House Bistro, San Jose, and I will join forces to benefit the Habitat for Humanity New Orleans Musicians Village Project (MVP). MVP will provide 81 homes for musicians displaced by Hurricane Katrina and build another 150 homes in the surrounding area, the 9th Ward in NOLA. Jay’s already raised almost $5,000 this summer through promotions at PHB and agreed to sponsor me on this adventure. Me and my Vespa will dedicate our Cannonball 2006 adventure to MVP.

Here’s how you can support the MVP and my ride across America:
• Sponsor me and my scoot by pledging a ‘per mile’ donation or a flat amount. With the ‘per mile,’ the farther I go, the bigger your donation. For example, pledge 1¢ a mile and donate $32.93 if I make it all the way. Email me at bobadilla@yahoo.com to make your pledge and I’ll collect when I get back from the Cannonball. OR…
• Don’t pledge, just go to PHB and make a donation (have some gumbo and beignets while you’re there.); OR…
• Go to http://www.Habitat-nola.org and click on Musicians Village and make a donation on-line.

Remember, your donations are made directly to the MVP and are tax deductible. Make checks to: Habitat for Humanity – New Orleans and note Musicians’ Village Project. You can mail checks c/o Jay Meduri, Poor House Bistro 91, So. Autumn St. San Jose, CA 95110

For more info, email me at bobadilla@yahoo.com or Jay at jaymeduri@poorhousebistro.com or visit http://www.Habitat-nola.org.

I’ll try to post to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/southbay_scooterist/ list as I make our way across the country to let you know how we’re surviving.

Thanks for the read and I hope you'll join me in support of this very worthy cause.

The main site www.scootercannonball.com has been updated with rider updates and route maps!

Also, this for those interested in meeting the finish of the cannonball ... this was posted on the BBS by Andrea of Scooters O:
Andrea wrote:
"Scooter Cannonball Arrival in NJ"

On Monday the 18th of September the Scooter Cannonball riders arrive in NJ at the end of their cross country ride.
We're having an Open Day at Scooters Originali in Orange, NJ to meet and greet them as they come in. I'd love for them to get a big welcome.

We'll have drinks and a BBQ for anyone that wants to head to the shop and give them a proper greeting as they arrive. There is no exact time, but it will probably be later in the day. You are welcome to hang out at the shop from any time from 3pm onwards. We'll be staying open till late, until we know all the riders are safe.

On the Monday evening we'll be meeting up with the riders in a bar (to be announced later) near their hotel in Wayne, NJ, so they don't have to worry about riding a great distance as they chill out and relax after their long ride. Everyone is welcome to come along and celebrate with them.

Also, the Cannonballers are planning to ride to Coney Island on the day after they arrive. The details have yet to be finalised, but I'll keep you update here for anyone that wants to accompany them. I'm sure they'd appreciate some local knowledge.

Thanks

Andrea

Glasseye's de-facto blog is a thread here on MV, so I added that to the list.

Glad to hear Rich made it in already.

I am bummed / pissed etc. etc.

I was planning on leaving work today around 2 and then ride up to Scooters O.

Nope, that wasn't happening when my VP thows on me the need for a last minute presentation. I just got home. Forget that I had plans and was about to leave. UGH. I guess I should be happy to have a good job, but I was really looking forward to meeting some of the riders.

I have been following the CB very closely and I am really thinking about 2008! Welcome to the finish line everyone!!
