I need to take my Scarabeo 500 to a dealer, but my closest dealer (in San Jose) closed. Can anyone in the Bay Area recommend a dealer for service? I know there are dealers in Santa Cruz, Oakland, San Francisco, and Rockland. I am hoping to find one that has loaner bikes, since I don't have a way to transport a scooter. I emailed three of these dealers asking that very question a week ago, but none of them replied.

California Speed Sports in Livermore is reputed to be the biggest Aprilia dealer in the state.

EDIT: They're nice folks, too.

Ya beat me to it. http://www.speed-sports.com/

They also provided free lunch and drinks at AmeriVespa's Friday ride. It would be nice to give them some business when possible.

They were very nice folks. That's where we bought our MP3 from.

Moto Italiano on San Carlos is no longer. In the back half of the former location there is a new business springing up, focused mainly on Triumphs. They can, however, work on Aprilias as they are the same guys who were the Moto Italiano service people (no warranty work). If you go ask for Maurice, great guy.

There is still a Moto Italiano in Capitola, as a matter of fact they are moving into a bigger and nicer location. Very nice people, used to be in San Mateo near where I live.

For warranty work I will most likely be going to Scuderia West. I wish there was a Peninsula dealer....oh well!

When you find one, ask them if you can test-drive this:

Steve,

You may want to see if Chris (owner) at SJ BMW (SJ Vespa) can help you out. His mechanics had no issues servicing an old Guzzi of mine when Moto Italiano couldn't get it together. I've learned that a good shop is a good shop regardless of the showroom, and it never hurts to ask, "hey, do you think you could do this?"

I had a bad experience with Moto Italiano and steer a wide path around that operation in general.

I tried taking the Scarabeo there a year ago when I go it, since I also have a GTS that I bought from SJ Vespa. Their response was, "We weren't trained to work on Aprilias."

Perhaps an independent like Moto Amore (now in Santa Clara) can send you in the right direction.

Not entirely true. We were unable to get Aprilia parts from Piaggio. If you are not a dealer, they dont let you order from the system, its to ensure fair play between different Piaggio company dealers. The bike engines are basically the same, so we can work on it.

Just a note, we can get Aprilia parts now and will have the new RSV4 here soon as well as Scarabeo's ...

Does this mean you guys picked up the Aprilia franchise for that ten-mile-radius?

Aprilia dealers in the Bay Area
I'd love it if Vespa San Jose could service both of my scooters. Very convenient for me.

By the way, I just dropped by Scuderia West in SF today. A Little out of my way, but nice folks. They are having an Open House this SAturday. 10% to 50% off everything in the store (except scooters!). Barbecue, vendors, raffle. Too bad they are so far away from San Jose.

Visited Scuderia West yesterday; nice folks (including Debra, the sales manager, REbecca in service), big store with lots of goodies.

Unfortunately, this bike (RSV4) isn't out yet. But their flier for the Open House Saturday does mention a "super secret special unveiling . . .
