Perhaps I should plan my trips ahead next time.

I had to make a trip to the county assessor's office (which apparently wasn't the right place to go) today. When I walked out of the office I decided to keep on driving up the "Old Road" to see where it goes.

The Old Road is the former US 99 in Southern CA. I headed north through Stevenson Ranch and Valencia, past Magic Mtn and wound up in Castaic. Still plenty of daylight left so I headed up the Ridge Route to a 4-way intersection that gave me two directions to go (the others were not "through" roads). I opted to keep going. Wound up on the old Golden State Hwy headed towards Pyramid Lake. That road also ends. Wish I would have known that ahead of time.

Of course had I planned the trip and checked the route ahead of time I may have gone further. All in all, very scenic. The route is in Google Street View.

I'm weird. I love rides that end in dead-ends - or at least challenges how to carry on.

So a 'well done' from me.

That looks like a fun route, how long did it take you to go up and
back? Any interesting sites along the way that you took photos with
your scooter in them?

Took somewhere between an hour and 1 1/2 hours to reach the barrier had I not stopped for lunch along the way.

I neglected to bring the camera, and I had a low battery on my phone.

Next time, I promise.

Tough day. Get to a dead end and have to go back on a scenic road spending more time in the saddle. Please please don't throw me in that briar patch.

I love the concept of just getting out to ride and winding up somewhere new simply because you were enjoying the trip. Thanks for sharing.

I really enjoy that kind of riding on occasion. No plan, just seeing where the road takes you. I'll be doing just that in about an hour or so!

Sounds like you had a nice ride.
