While doing my other mods, and no current run of fuzzy washers available, I kept an eye out for the 22mm ID and 36mm OD dimensions of washer.

While at the hardware store getting the PVC pipe and clamps for the airbox mod, I found a couple of boxes of M20 galvanised washers were close, but there was a great deal of variation.

I grabbed handfuls and held them in a stack looking for the right "mutation" that gave the desired thickness. I found a 2.5 and 3mm example that looked the best (construction washers, not all the prettiest examples of metal work!)
I settled on the 3mm example, just 1mm OD larger that didn't look to be a problem on the pulley recess.

If you look at M20 in these two links below, you can see the variation in the standards for what M20 should be. I can tell you in those two boxes I'd probably have found an example of all whole mm variations that I may have needed if I looked long enough.
- Table showing M20 is roughly what you want
http://www.roymech.co.uk/Useful_Tables/Screws/Din125.html
- End of page washers table showing variation in M20 standard, ranges shown you can find the perfect 3mm fuzzy washer replacement through variations in manufacturing tolerances
http://www.roymech.co.uk/Useful_Tables/Screws/Hex_Screws.htm

My example I settled on within 5min of handling/comparing was the 22mm ID, 37mm OD, 3mm thickness, is pictured here compared to the original washer (black) that it replaced.

Good job with that - I searched far and wide for a local source and none to be found. You would not of course be able to sort purchasing through the internet. Hopefully in Europe these would be more common. I'd be interested in hearing how many folks can find these.

Those links on the standards are from a UK guy, so I presume any of the Europeans using metric would run into an M20.

In the USA I believe you wouldn't want to run into an M20

Fastenal sells M20 washers.
Here's a stainless steel washer.

Does this meet the specs needed?
Just checked your links and it is the same specs.

Yep that is the one.
Note they list the perfect spec of ID 21mm, OD 37mm.

This works for us when the manufacturing variations are within the spec giving us 22mm ID, necessary to fit the driving pulley shaft.
I've tested the 37mm OD is OK.

Also watch that many weren't actually 3mm thickness, and I found they tended to be under rather than over.

So in summary I'd suggest for this 2min job:
1) Grab a handful into a stack, and find the 3mm+ candidates.
2) Of the 3mm+ size the ID to find the 22mm ones.
3) Of these remainders, choose OD closest to 36mm.
4) Repeat random handful if ideal washer not found at first.

If you have a source with a bin of them you have it made. I'm not so sure of teh economics with mail order. Wonder what the stats are for the thickness and ID tolerances. With two variables to consider you might have to go through a few. Not bad for off the shelf tho...

That's right, I would put my money on you *not* getting the right variations in dimensions if you ordered one or ten by mail order.

Definitely need to stack them in your hand and do the elimination task.

I went down to my local specialist fastener shop and they had a 22mm x 36mm 3mm washer in stainless so I've bought a couple...

Will that do the trick? Sounds like it

Will try fitting in about a months time... Got some other fish to fry before then, but will try and post a picture of the washers when I get back home a gain
