Right, Just picked Up my new ET4 Leader, before that I was riding a preleader.. They both have been fitted with a PM tuning exhaust BTW

Firstly, the Leader is quieter on idle, feels smoother and not as much vibrations as the old one.

Secondly, the way it gathers speed. Now, I know these aren't exactly Ducatis or Yamahas so the difference may be little, But I could feel the the way the Leader Accelerates which honestly blows away the Preleader especially to 40mph. Albeit, the excitement isn't as thrilling because of the noise of the engine, it sounds like a turbine.. IMO. Top Speed on the other hand, well my old one did 55mph, the new one does 70+ which i tested on Hendon Way.. cough cough..

Lastly, It feels as though the throttle response is slower in the Leader, then again it just got serviced before I picked her up from a Dealership(which means she's been dormant). Guess, I'll just have to run her in again..

The pre-leader was always much faster than the leader. More power (an extra 1bhp) and less economy. Your old pre-leader must have been on its last legs!

You're right, I only got the new one because the ol' one's engine went kapoot!
Though I'm sure topspeed is higher in the leader

it's not - a pre-leader engine in good condition has better acceleration and a higher top speed than the leader engine. it's a shame your old one went to scooter engine heaven at such a young age because it's a better engine all round than the leader - well, except for the fact that it uses more fuel and burns more oil

damn.. I guess I didn't look after her that well then. BUT I do miss her dearly, I prefer the preleader if I'm honest, felt more an animal.. the leader feels like a machine.. if only..

From what I hear though, the leader is the more reliable engine and if anything does go wrong, parts are easier to source than the discontinued preleader

well... i've had two pre-leader ET4s and nary a problem getting parts. properly looked after, they're like little tanks. perhaps the previous owner didn't look after your pre-leader properly - if you change the oil and clean the air filter occasionally they should run pretty much forever - i've heard of one with 90,000 miles on it. sorry to burst your bubble ....

I'm glad I'm a member, this is how i Gain knowledge on things considering I'm still quite new to the motor world. I will own a preleader again and will find an immaculate one at that
