Done. You just paste in the raw link with no tags around it and the forum software takes care of the rest.

Although I don't get to participate once again, I do get to host Cannonballers in my home pre-and post-event. Starrem was here last Wednesday after dropping her Lammy off for shipment and I get the additional honor of hosting the RBSC's Bodacious and Pistol Pete after the event. Soooo stoked! Almost feels as if I were a part of this. My wife is already having to hear about 2012.

Question: do the SPOT notifications (check-ins) show up as posts on the thread or just markers on the map?

No. The OK notices only put a marker on the map.

This looks like Dave's attempt to mimic SPOT messages, which won't work. The messages actually have to come from the spot service and have the correct email From address.

Yup. Will talk to Dave about it tonight if he doesn't see this before then.

At Dulles a couple hours early waiting to head to the West Coast.

Sweet! I hope you brought your rain gear with you though, we're having some very wet weather here in Vancouver right now, which will continue through at least tomorrow. However, at the moment the forecast looks good for a clear start on Thursday... I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Have a good flight & look forward to seeing you soon!

Rain gear is awaiting me in my shipping container at Foward Air. Hopefully things aren't too wet while we unload the scoots tomorrow.

Still frantically reworking maps to avoid 20 hr days. There are more than one instance where we will have to skip a checkpoint to save on 2+ hours of riding.

Thanks Sue! Welcome back from BRC! I just posted a list of blogs on the Cannonball forums too. There's one more that I included there that wasn't in your list:

Karen S (ks7877): http://scooterwanderlust.blogspot.com/

There are 4 Cannonballers in town that I know of so far: me, Rocket, Bodacious and Karen S. Our film crew is due in tonight and more folks should be arriving tomorrow. It's been raining off and on since last night and it's forecasted to continue through the day tomorrow, but it looks like it's going to clear up for Wednesday and Thursday. Woohoo!

Safe and Sound in Crescent City Beach Motel.
Finished day 1 of the west support vehicle journey to the starting line.
(San Francisco to Crescent City). Almost ended badly when a plate with a
treaded rod attached fell off a motorhome going the opposite direction,
crossed the undivided highway into our lane. The collision speed was easily
over 100 mph. Fortunately our truck is a 4WD with plates underneath to
protect from rocks. There was a loud crash, the rod separated from the plate
and the truck was unharmed. The plate was clearly welded to the motorhome
with the same skill as the nut was welded to the plate, which is to say
none.

Jess is that the only thing I need to "spoof"? That should be easy if so.
It also needs the subject line (which contains the type of message) and the message line in the body. In short, it really has to look like a spot message.

Yikes, Mark! That could have ended much, much worse.

Also, we were in Crescent City last night. It's probably too late for dinner advice (Pizza King was a good, old-school pizzeria) but if you want breakfast tomorrow, Good Harvest was decent and very friendly.

Also arrived in Seattle, caught hotel shuttle over with bklwashere (thanks for sticking around, beer is owed), and met up with JimT and HelixGeoff here at the hotel. Looks like a wet day tomorrow getting the scooters from forward air.

Glasseye and I rode through some nasty, nasty rain today. Definite flashbacks to Passo de Consume. I certainly picked the right bike to ride up here (MP3 500) while glasseye had to struggle on the GTS.

We are now safely ensconced in the hotel, well fed on steak, wine, and martinis.
