I haven't been there yet, but Scooter Hive is one of the local shops here, they put on the Friday night event at the rally this past weekend, which I unfortunately missed:

http://www.facebook.com/ScooterHive

I posted this in the Cannonball forums, but in case you haven't had a chance to check it, here's the route to the motel from the Forward Air terminal in Kent, WA, right next to the SEA-TAC airport:

Seattle to Vancouver

Be prepared to be confused once you cross the border into Canada, if you're not used to riding there. The signage takes some getting used to, along with calculating in km. I wouldn't worry about getting a speeding ticket here though, the locals don't seem to pay any attention to the signs!

Also, be careful not to miss exit 16 for Highway 91A past the border like I did, which should be the third exit after you enter Canada. Then, after you cross the Queensborough Bridge, be sure to follow the signs for 20th St (2nd exit on the right at the end of the bridge), since 22nd St is not marked there. The rest of the way is pretty easy, once you make the left onto Kingsway, it's a just a couple miles to the hotel.

What a spectacular adventure. With a little luck, I'll aim for 2012. In the meantime as a modest gesture of support, I'm posting links on my blog. Nuff said, I'll go back to lurking and drooling.

Scooter hive is probably an option but I'm thinking more robust. Like Cyclegear.

Looking up today, gotta see what we have in the area. I think our worst weather days are likely before our Aerostitch day, which I'm likely to skip the checkpoint on. That checkpoint adds so much complication to the 50s day it's not funny.

Cycle Gear? Way to support the local shops, ya corporate whore...

Try Rubber Side Down, I haven't been there yet, but I won a nice pair of gloves from them in the raffle at the rally this weekend:

Oh please... do you need me to warm your bottle for you too? It took me all of 30 seconds to re-route and avoid the freeways & it only adds a couple of minutes. Check your PM, don't say I never did anything for you...

Hmmmn, skip a checkpoint and remove 3 hours of riding, or go to a checkpoint and gain that. Hmmn.

how about we switch for that day, you can ride the 50, and see how much ya like it, GTS man Then we'll talk about bottles. it aint about how hard it is to route the checkpoint (cos it's not) - it's how much time it adds to the saddle. But like I said, day 2 is probably gonna be one of the bad ones, if not worst, weather-wise (we've been watching this like hawks). That makes Duluth pretty moot.

Either way, local scooter shops tend not to have hard core gear like Aerostitch to cover the wet weather that'll be in the low 30s, mid 20s.

Hope yer not a douche on the ride too, and this is just pre-ride nonsense

West Coast Support Arrived in Tillamook without incident. Swinging though downtown Portland was a bit of a nightmare but was required as we needed to pickup the Cannonball T-Shirts. Portland, like SF has several areas with nothing but one-way streets. First obstacle was a detour that forced us off onto a tiny street barely wide enough for our rig, then as got with in 5 blocks of the destination and the power went out, no traffic lights functioned for several blocks surrounding the destination. In the end it was easier to walk the final few blocks.

Tomorrow Vancouver, hopefully we will have no issues with "clearing the customs" with all our swag.

Having trouble emailing photos, so I guess I'll have to resort to plain old text.

This morning started put pretty miserable, with wet twisty roads. And cold.

Then it started pouring.

By 10:00am or so, it started clearing up, and stayed reasonable all the way to Canada. Made it across the border okay, and to the hotel with nary a hitch.

Time for some beer and shmoozing...

Cannonball Intercept, Day 3
This morning started out rough and got worse from there. The roads were wet and twisty, and then it started pouring rain. By about 10am things cleared up, though, and stayed clear all the way to Canada.

The border crossing was easy, and we got to the hotel with minimum fuss.

Mmmm. Beer!

So far....... the weather for your day 2 looks O.K. Cloudy, with a high of 70.
Just so the guys on 200's and the crazy fuckr on the 50 knows, you will wake up at about 1000 feet, climb to 5000 feet, drop to 1000 feet, climb to 4000 feet, drop to 1500 feet and then climb to just under 6000 feet....and thats just the first 80 miles of your day......
If I dont get stuck at work, I'll join you for the ride, which motel in Grand Forks are you booked?

I'm awake and not even properly hung over, since I had to stay sober until I went to the airport to pick up Oz at 10:40pm last night.

Rich and I have the day off from riding today, so we get to wander around, pointing and laughing at this years crop of riders who have no idea what they're in for.

So, for those of us who don't recognize everyone there, could someone tell us who they are?

Also, Jess, are you going to take the markers off the map and start fresh tomorrow?

Drink and dance and laugh and lie,
Love, the reeling midnight through,
For tomorrow we shall Ride! (Apologies to Dorothy Parker)

All the Cannonball riders are here and the final preparation have be made.
Pete and Aaron were the last to arrive, Roy (Rocket) and Mark (Bobo) had to make late exits, we will miss their company.

Yeppers. All the locations for this thread have been reset. The posted photos remain, of course. Hopefully we'll have some new locations on the map by tomorrow. Given that most of us don't have data plans that allow phones to work in Canada, though, it may very well be that nothing gets posted until people get to the hotel tomorrow at the end of the ride.

Your public awaits in breathless anticipation!

Wish I were with you guys. I could fill in almost the rest of my map.

Bon voyage!
