I was wondering if someone could tell me or show me how you check the hydraulic fluid? We are going to be doing a windshield change in the next few days and I thought that the reservoir is located in that area some place. Thank you.

After you remove the windshield you will need to remove the plastic cover below it held on by 5 screws, once that is removed you will see the white plastic reservoir for the fluid.

If it is low, you have a problem! So checking it is not like the brake resovior getting low because of brake wear. Now how many people go and add brake fluid to top it off? Wrong, because it also indicates how much wear the brake pads have, never add brake fluid; because when the new pads are installed, the excess will overflow out. Brake fluid removes paint very fast!

The resevoir behind the wind screen is for the tilt lock not brakes. Some have been delivered not properly filled and missed on PDI.

For brakes the resevoirs are on the handlebars. There is a small round window on each that can be seen by bending over and looking from the end of the handlebar. There is a picture in the manual.

Its kind of a PITA to check. Too much tupperware between you and the reservoir. Mine is still bwah bwah alarming that the hydraulic fluid is low, but it isn't. I pulled it all off and checked last week.

We are going to be changing the windshield anyway so I thought I would just give it a check. Since putting it up on the center stand and turning the tilt lock off I haven't heard anymore noise.

I believe the alarm is actually a pressure switch indicating the lock may be leaking. Some have had this and the problem is the pressure switch. If on the center stand and not on the lock, one will not get the alarm.

Thanks, I knew I liked you Fuzzy . I'll look at that. I don't get the alarm on the centerstand, and that would make a LOT of sense, because the most consistent way to get it is to lock it when it is compressed and not remember to take it off (not that I have ever done that, really). I have plenty of fluid, but I'm pretty consistently getting the alarm if I leave the tilt lock on for more than a day or two.

Changed my windshield and checked the fluid and everything is ok. Reservoir is at the full mark. Since putting on center stand and turning off tilt lock no horn honking has been heard.
