Yep, the 2 new Piaggio typhoons will be in stock soon. Any thoughts? I have a 2005 typhoon with a 70cc kit. The new 50cc's are still 2-stroke, so it should be pretty much the same machine I started with right?

Looks alright. I used to own a Typhoon. It was a good scoot. Notice the HP of the new 50 is 4.2... surely this is lower due to emissions control steps - I'm pretty sure the original was at least 5HP, like my ET2. It would hit 45 or so stock.

For the US, is there much of a point in having a Typhoon 125 or 150 when the Fly is available here (and, in some shops, also the Aprilia SportCity 125 and Scarabeo 100)? Is it going to cost significantly less?

I just looked at the UK Piaggio site and the Typhoon is only 20 pounds more than the Fly 50. I would expect the prices to be within a hundred bucks of so here.

Some of them look like they're competing with the V.I.P brand scooters for cheesiness. I'm sure the army-print is going to sell like hotcakes though.

I think all of the Piaggio 125s/150s exported to N. America and Europe are made in China now.
