With new users joining the forum every day (which is a good thing) the demand for patches is threatening to outstrip supply (which is a bad thing). To keep everyone happy, I'm going to set the cutoff for free patches to the first 75 registered users of this forum, which will cover everyone registered at the time of this posting (and a few more for good measure).

The only caveat is that you don't get a free patch if your rank (which you can see in your profile) is still "Lurker" at the time the patches arrive in the next couple of weeks. I hope everyone finds this a fair tradeoff.

Jess

p.s. In case you were wondering, the magic number is 3.

Free patch Great!
Do you take donations? Even if I get a free patch I would like to donate to the cause. Just let me know how you would like the donation sent.

At the moment, no. I'll let you all know if it reaches the point where donations are necessary. Thanks all the same, though. I'm ecstatic that you all are enjoying the forum.

So tell your friends to join us...fast! As of this posting there are just 10 slots left (plus a few more for lurkers, I imagine).

Thanks, Jess.

Patches
Sounds good to me Jess let me know I'm very interested in one. Speaking of patches we (The Westside scooter club) just got in our batch for our ride we are doing this Nov 6th. Hope that people in the area can make it. Until then happy and safe riding.

You already have, just by virtue of having registered. I'll collect addresses via PM when the patches arrive.

Much as I hate to waste bandwidth, as a new rider (1st actual ride today - 16 miles! - and 115 total on my four-week-old LX 150) I kind of like being part of a new forum, and want to leave my lurker status behind before it's too late!

I really appreciate the info you're all providing. Thanks!

Waste all you want. We'll make more.

Seriously, we have no shortage of bandwidth at this point. All that could change when we reach 1,000 users, but I think we're good for the next couple of months at least.

My club always does a free patch for our Apple Ride in the IE. Paying for that is no small feat, and I don't envy you the postage. Thanks for doing that, and it'll end up on my jacket when I get it.

If by any chance you need help with that, let me know and I'll gladly pitch in for a stamp. Bla Bla Bla

As of this moment, there are exactly two slots left for new users to be eligible for a free patch. Counting down...

Sweet! I made it in at number 74, and I had no idea about the patches.

That's awesome, my new favourite forum is this one.

Ding Ding! We have a winner! The 75th registered user is fadedhalo, thus bringing to a close our free patch giveaway. Everyone up to and including fadedhalo is eligible to receive a free Modern Vespa patch, as long as their rank in 10 or so days (when the patches arrive) isn't "Lurker".

The free patch is my way of saying thanks to all of you for registering and creating what's starting to look like a great forum.

Sounds cool. I'd put the patch on my jacket. Hopefully nobody will chide me too much for not having an actual Vespa, and that my Piaggio powered Peugeot will be good enough.

Me too. I actually invited Bryce to come to this forum because I value his perspective as a scooter generalist and a level-headed guy. I didn't even know his Peugeot had a LEADER engine in it at the time.

Bryce's opinion is one I hold in the highest regard.....a true scooterist and fancier of "machinery" in general.

If I miss the free patch - c'est la vie, more important is to get rid of the "lurker" tag. Not a good look.

Cheers Jess, great site, long future (I hope)

Not sure how many other members are from the Antipodes (New Zealand) - maybe I could be the first patch recipient down here ??
