Hey Guys

Question
When changing the drive belt on my ET4 125, do I need to remove both the variator (driven pulley?)side and the other side. or can I just remove the variator side and replace the rollers at the same time?

Your Help Appreciated.

Hi Ignoblis

If it operates the same as the ET2 (which I'm think it does) then you need to remove the drive belt cover, undo the variator nut and slide the variator off to get at the rollers, the belt will come away with the variator but will probably stay trapped in the groove of the faces of the rear driven pulley.

You can then grab the front face of the rear pulley and squeeze it shut to release the belt (try squeezing and twisting slightly at the same time to ease this)

Hope this helps

For my ET2 it is a 15mm, if I remember correctly.

Thanks Super-fly

I wasn't too sure if the nut size was the same for the ET4 as for the ET2.

Guys
Just want to thank you all for your help. The job is done, Rollers are in but did not need to put in a new belt as it looks brand new. The bike feels great.
Thanks

Aloha and welcome to the forum. Sometimes you can't see the cracking with the naked eye. If it's the original i'd replace it. Better safe than sorry because when a belt breaks it isn't pretty. We just replaced mine a few weeks ago while we had him open. It was 4yrs old but only had 6K. The belt looked alright but who knows. Where in SA are you? I was in J'Berg in Nov. Came in thru Swaziland.

@ Judy
I am in Durban, thanks for the info on the belt, now that I know how to do it I might just get me a new one and replace it. It is not a big job at all.
