9.35am-ish. Pico and Sawtelle. Blonde girl on a red LX150 (maybe an LX50). Red/black open face helmet. No gloves. Rear tyre needed air. Ran the red light.

Awesome.

Bums me out. But most of the scooter/vespa riders I see are well geared. To each their own, but you won't catch me without my Corazzo 2.0 and Shoei FF. Was a little warm a few days ago but it wasn't too bad with all the air vents on my Shoei and zipper vents on jacket.

The closer you get to the beach, the less likely you are to see gear on scooterists. I think that's universally true. In LA, same goes for Hollywood, Silverlake and Fairfax District.

As I was driving back from Arizona about 5:00pm on Sunday, I saw a gray GT200 heading south on I-5, on the south side of the Grapevine, if my memory serves me right. Was that anybody on here?

How were they doing on the Grapevine?

I'm heading down the 5 from up north and that's my only concern right now, how will the gts300 handle the grapevine?

North coast San Diego area, especially Oceanside & Carlsbad, Fallbrook etc....if you ever see my old wife on her white GT200 wave. If you see me on my Honda SH150i, well you can even flip me off but know it is ME cuz the mean old wife won't let me ride her GT200 that often!

Sold my Siverwing &Burgman 650 so maybe soon buying a 250GTS or 300? Maybe even another 500 Piaggio but for sure something Italian!

Red GTS on Box Spring and Sycamore Canyon road in Riverside. Haven't seen many vespas in this area so it was quite a pleasant surprise.

I saw gts in espresso with marching top case going west on the 91 in riverside. Too quick to spot any gear.

Guy on a blue GTS, no helmet (possibly just rolling it out of a garage) then struggling to get it up on the center stand. I won't say precisely where, but it was in the southeast SFV.

Cajon Pass @ 8:45 am on a small frame blue Vespa. It's my first one spotted so far! Reminded me of Kevin, but they were going north. Encouraging to see!

There also another lady on a red GTS, waved because I thought it was leah, but it was an older lady.

...i've seen more than the normal amount of scoots here in Riverside too. I believe i saw that green GT the other day, and a few days ago I saw a maroonish modern vespa in the bed of a pick up truck while on Van Buren.
BTW....we should see a few at UCR for the ska gig yeah?!

I had an appointment in La Jolla on Monday. It was a nice day, so I rode down from Oceanside. I rode on the freeway for about 10 miles of the 35 mi. (one way) trip. That saved me some time but I must admit that I don't much enjoy freeway riding. Maybe it would be easier with a taller windshield?

I took the coastal route on the way home. I saw a red LX parked in Del Mar, on the street where I snapped this shot of my scoot.

Meh, starting a ride from home is overrated lol

I'm planning on making the Borrego ride but I'm not sure yet. I'll know a few days before.

I think I spotted someone tonight. In Signal Hill, I was going westbound and he was going eastbound across Cherry. Red Vespa - wasn't exactly sure what model but he gave me a quick honk and, being a complete newbie, I wasn't sure what the secret acknowledgment was. I gave a bit of wave which I'm sure seemed pretty lame.

But it was an exciting moment, nonetheless!

This morning 9am. corner of Alicia and Moulton in Laguna Niguel / Aliso Viejo.

Red not sure what, 125-150 size scooter with dealer plates. Cute young gal, probably still in high school, there are two a few blocks in either direction. She was turning on to Alicia. I pulled up alongside to say hi.

She was wearing a stylish brown leather jacket, 3/4 helmet with full face shield. The bad news, no gloves and for shoes those little ballerina slipper things with no socks. I said hi and asked if it's a new scooter. Big happy smile, yes.

The light was turning green and I didn't have enough time to suggest she glove up and get some proper riding shoes. I'm going to keep an eye out for her and suggest some additions to her gear. In the meantime I will send out positive vibes that she stays out of trouble and has fun riding her new scooter.
