The MP3 does require M1 license, sorry to say. Definition of "motorcycle" from state vehicle code:
Quote:
Motorcycle

400. (a) A "motorcycle" is any motor vehicle having a seat or saddle for the use of the rider, designed to travel on not more than three wheels in contact with the ground, and weighing less than 1,500 pounds.
(b) A motor vehicle that has four wheels in contact with the ground, two of which are a functional part of a sidecar, is a motorcycle if the vehicle otherwise comes within the definition of subdivision (a).

(c) A motor vehicle that is electrically powered, has a maximum speed of 45 miles per hour, and weighs less than 2,500 pounds, is a motorcycle if the vehicle otherwise comes within the definition of subdivision (a).

(d) A farm tractor is not a motorcycle.

(e) A three-wheeled motor vehicle that otherwise meets the requirements of subdivision (a), has a partially or completely enclosed seating area for the driver and passenger, is used by local public agencies for the enforcement of parking control provisions, and is operated at slow speeds on public streets, is not a motorcycle. However, a motor vehicle described in this subdivision shall comply with the applicable sections of this code imposing equipment installation requirements on motorcycles.

She was stoked, and wants to take a look at it.

I know that David had one left, besides his demo unit, in Vespa Riverside, a couple of weeks ago.

I doubt that it is still there.
There are 2 MP3's at the shop, One is for demo riding. Tell them I sent you, I will try to ride wed. night the MP3. DR

MP3s are selling like hotcakes. I was getting my oil changed at Vespa of Thousand Oaks and they sold 2 of em just that day. One guy called in and ordered one without ever even test driving it.

I don't know if the MP3 test ride promotion helped (hell, I rode one and it was awesome!), but I was told by someone at Vespa Sherman Oaks that Piaggio had underestimated demand and that US MP3s would sell out at some point. Okay by me—I'm waiting for a 400 or 500cc version.

If that's true then why do they have 3 of em still was in there like a week ago)?

I didn't say they don't have any—just that stock of the US MP3s will likely run out before everyone who wants one can get one.

Tue 5/15 around noon on PCH, southbound in Laguna Beach, a black MP3.

Then, a little later at the Mobil station on Moulton and El Toro in Laguna Hills, Matt aka Vespanaut approached me as I was filling up. He rides the "mint blue" with white ET4 that you can see on Bobby's site (paint job done through him). Matt is active on the South Bay Scooter Club site and I told him he must come over to MV. So, look out for Vespanaut...
Matt, when you see this, please post a picture of your beautiful ET4! Hope to see you on one of our rides soon. Wrightwood! R'Idyllwild! O-O-O!

I just saw some guy on a newer-looking vespa - Brown (I'm not good enough to tell the difference between vespas, but I think it may have been an ET4 or LX something). The guy was riding without gloves and on his phone. He had a nextel phone using the walkie talkie function. He was wobbling cause he couldn't keep it steady and looking to the left to speak into the phone...

can we say suicide rider? He was wearing a black 3/4 helmet and a business suit with dark sunglasses on.

This was around 5:10 pm on La Grange between Bundy and Armacost in west la.

OK, Last week in LA I saw that one lady that Megageek from the BBS yelled at for wearing flip flops and riding horribly. The dead giveaway was that she was wearing flip flops.

While driving around a bit, trying to burn in the new engy, I saw three unattended scoots: white vintage ?, grey modern Vespa, and an obscured third.

Was it you?

I always see a Steel Gray GT and a black Buddy 125 outside Twiggs. Live there or work there....they are ALWAYS there!

Now... my hubby and I ride everyday around San Diego... and we have never been spotted? I must be blending in!
GeoEnvi, we need a San Diego spotter thread - this one is hyjacked by Orange/Riverside and LA! Next MV we see...someone can start an SD thread. I love you guys up north... but the street references are lost on me!

Wednesday: Nice white T5 next to me on Cahuenga near 101 in Hollywood
Then a red ET with female (long-haired male?) rider heading south on Barham.

Thursday: White-bearded gentleman on a red GTS, heading N on Laurel Canyon Blvd. Just caught a glimpse but I thought I may have seen a little dog poking its head out of his jacket...?

This morning: Seen from a distance, what may have been a grey GTV parked in front of Fabiolus Cafe on Sunset.

It's a SoCal thread so, by rights, we have MORE entitlement to post in it than they do! You don't get much further south in CA than San Diego County! lol!

Do you live in UniHeights? I'm at Lancer's every weekend. I'm sure you'll start to see my new GT parked out front!

I've been riding since January, and in that time I've only seen two Vespas in Orange. I'm convinced that I'm the only Vespa rider in Orange.

The only other scooter I've seen around here regularly is a Honda Elite around Chapman University.

Heading north on Lincoln saw a red GTS with a guy in a white 3/4 helmet. I drove by and gave a thumbs up... got nothing. At the next light he pulled up in the lane next to me. I looked over and waved.. he looked at me and blinked, looked straight ahead.

I wonder when I'll get my first wave back from a Vespa rider in Los Angeles.

Happy M-Day!

Saturday: White LX, Melrose near Fairfax as I was on my way to test drive a Smart car.
Then, Highland near Hollywood Blvd., black LX, male rider, female passenger

Sunday: GT(S?) in the parking lot behind Bookstar, Urban Outfitters, etc. at Ventura and Laurel Canyon Blvd,. I've placed MV cards on a couple scoots in this lot. Another popular spot!

What's up with that guy? We rode all over this weekend and saw MANY bikes, both cruisers and crotch rockets. Not a single scooter! But I have to tell you, probably 95% of them gave us the wave as we met. Come up to Wrightwood and we'll be happy to wave back at ya!

After a great sleepover, my friends and I wanted to find a place to eat at today. Most of them piled into my friend's Matrix, while I decided to follow them on my GTS because it was just so nice out. My friends and I were walking through Old Towne Orange looking for a place to eat at.

I spotted a great, well-used white P200E sitting near Felix Continental. I should have taken a photo of it.

Anyone ever spot any Vespas in the San Gabriel Valley? I'll be buzzin' around Pasadena/South Pasadena/Alhambra.
