So I viewed the list of riders, not one mainland China scoot in the event. Need to add a handicap class. If one of them could enter and survive to the finish they win!

In a pinch, you can run a wood furnace to supplement the gas engine to improve your mpg.

The Team Bay Area support truck left this morning under cover of darkness. Four scooters plus various and sundry tools, spares, helmets, and dehydrated food packets.

Now I am at loose ends for three days until I fly out to Savannah.

Our VA-bound scoots were in Nebraska yesterday, half-way across. Go Dwayne, go, but avoid the storms!

Today will be spent doing 'things' in DC. I'll do what I'm told...

This has been posted elsewhere but I think it bears repeating. Do yourself a favor and contact your credit and/or debit card issuer(s) to have them put a travel alert on your card. Making regular stops with random purchases (particularly gas) could easily trigger fraud protection and you'll find yourself standing there with your card declined. You can easily get it turned back on with a phone call but why stand there talking to a bank when you could be tooling down the road on your scoot?

The CSA I just spoke to at one of my banks let me know that we're all crazy but he said he's got a lot of respect for what we're about to do and wished us all a safe journey.

Speaking as someone who lives in a small town like we are going through. My mom asked me when I was walking late one evening "What if you get mugged?" I told her "I'll tell Shannon who it was and he can go beat them up!" It isn't that small towns are inherently filled with nicer people - you can just identify the perpetrators more easily. When my husband's taillight was stolen in Blue Ridge, GA the clerk knew who must have done it and asked if we wanted his address .

It's a disassembled ramp...in case I have to jump a log or something.

The boring reality is that it's a 2x4 I had the guys at Lowe's cut up for a small home project.

So on my not-so-smart phone is there a geotag? Or is it only a smartphone feature? Pic went right through, but I'm not on the map.

Isn't the map just a SPOT! user/check in map?

No, anything with a geotag on it will appear. Mine showed up on the map when I sent a photo to the thread.

Matt (4n6iscool) has the same issue. He sent a photo yesterday but doesn't appear on the map.

A couple possibilities:
- Your phone doesn't have GPS or any other means to geotag a photo
- Your phone strips the location data before mailing it
- Verizon strips the location data before mailing it

But it there's location data when the MV server receives it, it will put it on the map. That's about as much as I can tell you.

The Mark and Lee support team continues their leisurely jaunt across America. Leaving Galveston on their way to New Orleans. I expect the scooters will be well rested by the time they get to Georgia.
