The GT200 is the first larger-frame modern Vespa, introduced in 2003 after the success of the ET-series, which led Vespa's return to the US market after a 20-year absence. The GT (or Grantourismo) was available in US dealers in 2004. The GT introduced the angular, beveled body style which has been the design foundation of all modern Vespa models since.
The GT200 uses a carbureted LEADER engine, increased from 150cc (ET-4) to 198 cc, and installed into a larger frame. Other upgrades include 12" wheels, 2 wheel disc brakes, and liquid cooling.
The GT200 became the starting point for both the GTS250, and recently released GTS300 Super models, both of which share nearly identical frames but with enhanced powerplants.
