Primavera
Overview
Announced at the 2013 EICMA motorcycle exhibition, the 2014 Primavera is the next in Vespa's line of modern smallframes that began with the ET series. The Primavera succeeds the popular LX and LX/S lines, which are expected to be discontinued in 2014. The original line of Vespa Primaveras was built from 1968-1978.
Differences from LX Series
The new model borrows many styling elements from the limited edition Vespa 946 and integrates them into the existing LX platform. Unlike the 946, the Primavera has underseat storage, with more capacity than the LX (thanks to the relocation of the battery).

While the Primavera retains the engines in the 946 and most recent LX models (including the 3V 125/150cc engine which never appeared in a N. American LX), it also introduces a new transmission and clutch. Though the 3V has better fuel economy than the engines that preceded it, the fuel tank capacity on the Primavera is less than the LX, 8 litres (2.1 US gallons) versus the previous 8.6 litres (2.3 US gallons).

Additional changes include a 120/70-11 rear tire size, an inch taller than the LX's. This is an uncommon size (at the time of the Primavera's launch). As with the 11" front tire on the LX and Primavera, there will likely be limited options for non-stock tires. The larger tire does allow for a larger rear drum brake. The rear suspension is upgraded as well.
