Yep looks like my 500 has the same issue. Didn't feel any abrading but there is a slight dent in the hose. The bike has just over 4000 miles. Will be taking care of this tonight. Thanks for the heads up Rob to check this invisible sticky thread.

mine still has the washer I stuck between the hise and the fan 18000 miles ago. Truly a simple fix.

I used a couple of tie wraps to pull the hose a little more than 1/4 in away from the fan housing. At least that is my temp fix until I can get more time to mess with it. Oh and there was abrading going on. The thin sleeve was worn through and a slight rub on the hose itself. Couldn't see it before.

I made the repair and with under 500 miles on my MP3 - I could already see signs that I would soon be riding an air cooled MP3... Happy Thanksgiving.

Just checked mine and sure enough ... just has been said ... my 2008 with 9000 miles has the problem described. Now I'll have to decide whether just a fix or a replace and fix is required. THANKS SO MUCH for you guys and this forum. I'll definitely continue to lurk and learn!!!!!!!

Just 'a fix' is fine.

I used the Rob in Denver fix (large washer) and seems to be working well. Thanks!!!!

two zip ties to pull 'er away from the offending/abrading piece
and reinforced the hose with some heavy rubber hose I had on hand
from a kayak cart project...

Well I appreciate the info on the radiator hose fix but unfortunately it wore half way through on mine at 7000 miles. $200 to get it replaced. Mostly man hours but I ride 110 miles and I can't afford a blown hose. My dealer was clueless on this and never inspected for it, now they do. Piaggio sucks in providing technical service bulletins.

Tech bulletin was sent out on this issue. If your dealer didn't read it, that's not Piaggio's fault.

Well I guess that narrows it down. My Dealership Mechanics don't know how to read or get the Tech Bulletins. LOL! I got to fix it because it bugs the crap out of me being worn half way through.

Does any one have the Technical service bulletin or kow where to get it. I wrote Piaggio a email on this. Anyway thanks for the pics and info guys, peace out and safe riding.

This is how my hose was. I used 2 zip-ties to hold it back and black Sugru to repair the damage.

I checked mine last night and saw that it wasn't touching at all, while the wheels are locked... will take photos to post later. Thanks for the warning post.

Just picked up a used (barely: 250 miles) 2010 and after reading this forum thread (while looking for information on a more serious problem ) I checked and found the hose had a shrink wrap sleeve (not very substantial) but was definitely making contact with the fan housing. Some marking, but no indentation that I could feel.

Zip-ties to the rescue.

By the way, for those having trouble getting the zip-ties around the frame: Bend the tie almost into a loop, then thread it under the hose, up behind it, over the frame tube and out. Quite easy if you get the right curve on the zip-tie.

Rob, would you post a pic of exactly where you place the washer. In one of your posts, you stated "between the tire......."

my '09 MP3 500 has the shrink wrap protection and someone had zip-tied around the frame and both hoses with a zip-tie with a sleeve around it, but had not tightened it enough and the tie had slipped down. This scoot has only 79 miles on it and there was already a wear mark in the protective sleeve. Tightened it up and will monitor

My 09 500 has significant space between the fan and the hose. I will however place a zip-tie around the hose as a precautionary measure.

I'm in the UK with an MP3 500 (the European spec, not the US Fuoco-esque version) and I checked to see if I had this problem.

But the fan housing on my bike is considerably different to the photos (see my photo).

Can anyone say whether the hose rubbing is an issue on the Euro spec version anyway? If it is, then I guess I'm going to have to dismantle the fan housing to enable the OP's fix, but any input before I do this would be happly received!

This is just a Fuoco issue.

Yeah that is a good note. Linked pictures like yours are not re-sized automatically like pictures uploaded directly to MV. 800X600 pix is a good max size to shoot for. Just for future reference.

Bought a new-old-stock MP3 500 last weekend, and just checked for this issue. Sure enough, coolant hose dented by fan housing. Seems either factory or dealer had attempted repair with hose-wrapped zip tie, but unfortunately was not tight enough. Simples.

Props to the forum, and all who contribute.

Hi Guy, I have the 300LT with the foot brake (European version)
I don't seam to have the problem as the fan is encased in the front coachwork. I have also posted the workshop manuals picture[img][/img]

Wow! This pipe issued I founded in forum is awesome! Yes now I have 1000 on OD mater and yes there is dimple on the pipe sleeve.
I went to The Home Depot and got Gray Flex Tubing 1'x5ft(-40-276f) $2.98 + Tax and Military Spec 8" Zip tie $6.47 (100pk) + Tax
I covered both cooling pipe left and right since pipe were touching sharpy edge plastic flange so now look sleek and clean.

howdy, i'm gonna get in this with a suggestion that the same problem exists with the bv500. I had the same wear and clearance issue with mine and solved it with the added protector like shown in several of those pics.

ok, but look at the bottom of that tunnel too. Both hoses make a sharp turn to go around the tank and frame in the trip back to the engine.

Hi guys.i m new on the website,I have a Piaggio MP3 500 from 2018 and i would like to ask what can i do to reduce the rpm versus speed.i mean if I'm driving with 140 km/h i have 7000 rpm.i would like to reduce the rpm.it s possible to do it??!!
