HI there everyone I have a problem with my belt. I wanted to check my drive again today and to my horror I saw 3 big cracks in my belt. I replaced the belt about 3000m ago. On the photo you see 1 crack, the other 2 are smaller. There is also a trace on the belt. Does anyone understand why this could be?
Thanks for responding. As far as I know it is original. But now I'm going to doubt. If I have a new one I can see if it is original. It also seems as if something protrudes from the belt. I hope this does not happen with my new one.
The previous belt was completely in pieces. I just wanted to pull up from the traffic light when it cracked. But there was already 16000km on the clock and I assumed that it was never replaced. Now there is 21000km on it and the already starts to tear. half a year ago I also replaced my rear clutch because it was exhausted. I do not understand this damage.
The groove on the top of the belt cogs is from hitting the case. No big deal, except it might indicate that the belt is too long. The crack is unusual- that belt is failing too soon; good that you are replacing it now because it doesn't have many km left on it.
Both of those things make me suspect that it's not an OEM belt, or it had a manufacturing defect. Buy your new belt from a different vendor.
Thank you all for answering. I replaced my belt today. The old belt had a tear in 4 places. Only on the right side of the belt. I checked to see if I saw any further damage, the only thing I saw is that the belt rubs against the crankcase in some places. I am going to drive for a week and then see if the belt is damaged. After looking at my old belt I saw that this was an original one. It drives really well now. no shocks or bouncing
@Maksor I really cleaned my entire carter inside. I had everything loose and everywhere I had my bits of belt removed. I also saw no trace of filth in my carter today. So it couldn't have been that. Do you also have an idea how this would have come about?
