Hello there . Anyone been able to find a taller version of a windscreen/windshield for a 2018 or 2019 MP3 500 (the model that changed from three windshield attachment points to four attachment points (screws).

Need help. Cannot find one on my own.

I bought this one:

https://www.motea.com/en/windshield-puig-v-tech-line-piaggio-mp3-sport-350-2018-clear-133922-0?gclid=Cj0KCQjwhuvlBRCeARIsAM720HrokqlHoI0vv01sONGvVCcbfDP5lwZ_r6-ww-OCPKFdTlw0QHOQNHAaAiaPEALw_wcB

It fits perfectly and is a vast improvement over the stock windscreen.

They shipped it to me in Los Angeles with no problems.

It says it's for the MP3 350, but the 500 is the same.

Here is the info from the manufacturer:

https://puig.tv/en/tuning-motos/windshields-for-maxiscooters/windshield-v-tech-line-touring?bike=23964

I hope this helps. The stock windscreen is terrible.

You use use the original tall Piaggio windscreen from the 2014-2017 models as it is supplied with the base and all needed parts to mount it.

As I said, the windscreen comes complete as a KIT including the windshield base with 3 holes to mount the screen

It is Piaggio p/n#2S000117.

Here are the instructions showing everything that is included in the kit including the base mount.

In a nutshell, this kit will alow those that have the new style fixed shield to upgrade to the (better) older style adjustable type.

Thanks sbaert. I always assumed that in the pictures of other windshields showing three attachment screws that they would not fit my 2019 mp3 500. i appreciate the help.

Why go through all that, including the added expense, when you can just get the Puig and bolt it on in ten minutes? The only advantage I can see is that the Piaggio screen is adjustable. (The 2016+ adjustable stock screen was just about perfect. I don't get why Piaggio had to change it. Cost?)

BTW, are you sure the Accessory Windshield Support will fit on the 2019?

Either of these is preferable to the newer 4-bolt stock screen, though. Of course, this will vary depending on the rider's height, but on me, the stock screen directed the air flow at my neck right up under my helmet. Not something I was looking forward to as the weather got colder.

Yes, it fits the new ones. All the mounting locations are the same since the front end of the MP3 did not change.

I tried 2 Givi windshields (a one piece, the other a 2 piece adjustable type), and one other (I think Faco or Ermax).

Hated them. Why? At higher speeds, the shield started buffeting. On the other hand, the Piaggio has the 2 supporting rods that results in a perfectly still windshield and thus does not affect your vision.

The Piaggio windshield is worth the slightly higher cost.

I've just finished installing the Piaggio LED indicator lights on mine, and it was a plug and play operation other than splicing the connectors at each corner.

The only thing left to do is install the new Euro spec headlights with integrated day time running lights.

For whatever reason, the US spec 2020 MP3s still get the separate dinky little DRL which is next to useless although they charge plenty just to replace that little guy.

I know, I know. The real reason is because the US DOT regulations are stuck somewhere between man's discovery of fire and the advent of electricity.

I had the GIVI adjustable screen on my 400. Yes, it did flex at speed, which bothered me, too. It didn't affect its functionality, though.

The Puig does not flex at all, even up to 90 miles per hour (ahem, so I've heard ).

Unfortunately, the Puig is out of stock at Motea. The price (112 euros) is much less than the Piaggio, even including the $45 or so for shipping by UPS. The Piaggio is $343.61 at AF1 Racing "available in 6 - 8 weeks". Shipping $19.95.

I just checked the link on the Puig screen.

The Piaggio windshield is vastly bigger at 900mm high X 750mm wide vs. the Puig's 825mm high X 625mm wide.

In American, the Piaggio is a full 3 inches higher and 5 inches wider. That's quite a difference.

I'm just over 6ft3in, and I can just see above the screen and feel zero wind buffeting.. When it rains, the water just sheets off and flies off just above my head keeping me perfectly dry.

Also, my hands don't feel any cold drafts either not even in the midst of winter. Granted, I do have heated grips and muffs.

So there we have it. Not everything suits everyone.

I'm 5'11" tall. With a gel seat cushion, I can see just over the Puig screen. Wind and rain flow over the top of my helmet. The larger screen wouldn't fit me.

I hope we have given the OP some good information with which to make an informed choice.

I am leaning toward the original Piaggio tall windscreen, even though it is more pricey than the Puig, (also the Puig site still shows that their windscreen is 'unavailable' at the moment).

I am 5ft 10in. tall. sbaert you say you are 6ft 3in tall. Will that make the original Piaggio windscreen too tall for me? I have always thought that a person should have a tall windshield and look through it, but the more I read about windscreens, most people say that you typically look over the top of the screen, and not through it. Any thoughts?

Everybody is built differently, as was stated already. I think it is a matter of personal preference, although motorcyclists like the wind in the face feeling albeit those folk tend to be seasonal riders.

Me, not so much, especially in the midst of winter when riding the motorway.

My suggestion would be to try to find somebody or a shop that as a MP3 with the tall screen already installed and see what you think.

In my opinion it is always better to have a shield that is too tall vs. too short, since you can always have the taller shield trimmed down (or have 3 mounting holes drilled) to match your preference.

[WTB] Tall Windshield for 2016 MP3 500
I also found the stock windshield to be entirely too low at highway speeds and I'm only 5'9". I'm only putting up with stock windshield because I can't get past the high price of a new tall one. Consequently, I posted a request in the classifieds for a used tall windshield.

Broke down and bought Piaggio Tall Windshield
I purchased the OEM tall windshield from AF1 Racing as it was $60.00 cheaper than the Piaggio dealer here. I got it installed after about 5 hours very careful trial and error. The instructions for adjusting and tightening the rods would not work on my 2016. - no access to the upper bolts for the rods after the support is installed. Also, unlike some earlier posts cited, my kit did not come with the new support (the large black plastic part). So, I had to modify the old support by drilling the two large holes for the rods. Luckily, the support was semi-marked on the underside for the locations of the holes. I also noticed the 2020 AF1 price went up $40.00 for the windshield: $404.25, but appears to now include shipping which was $25.00

Anyway, I love the improvement in ride comfort. No wind pushing against my chest or bugs pelting my helmet and suit. I'm almost looking forward to the next time I get caught in the rain Strangely, it did not help the wind buffeting noise in my helmet. It also appears to have dropped my gas mileage by 5 MPG, which I suppose isn't too surprising given the huge increase in frontal area. The only negative while riding so far is more push from crosswinds.

Glad to hear you like it.

You should check to make sure your windshield installation kit was complete. If you check the instructions, you will see that the predrilled based is included as part of the kit.

If it is missing, complain to AF1 and they should fix this.

I think you are referring to the 2 plastic base pieces that are indeed a pain to install. Yes, some major grumbling there. I deviated slightly from the instructions and stuck each rod underneath the plastic of the front end of the bike. THEN i installed the 2 plastic base pieces on top. That was the only way I could install mine since I only have 2 hands.

Not sure why you lost that much MPG. Have you verified this? The MPGs on mine stayed about the same, or even slightly improved.

The windnoise in your helmet might be due to the helmet design. I use a Schuberth C3 Pro, and with the tall windscreen it is almost eerily quiet. Took some getting used coming from other helmets and bikes in the past.

Waiting to hear from AF1
I actually have contacted AF1 about the missing support and am hoping for a partial refund.
The helmet noise probably is a function of my helmet. I was just hoping the taller windshield would help.
The drop in MPG is correct. If/when gasoline prices increase again, I plan to experiment with the angle the windshield. The top could easily be tilted back several degrees.

AF1 came through with a partial refund
Just an update, AF1 just gave me a $35.00 refund for the missing support part. What's better, they actually credited the money back on my credit card. I was expecting store credit only. It is nice to know AF1 still cares about keeping their customers happy, unlike many companies these days.

AF1 is excellent to work with, they did the same for me a few years ago for some stuff that got messed up in shipping because of poorly wrapping from piaggio from the warehouse before they got it.

some aftermarket suppliers could careless and never refund anything or give store credit and always think the customer has done something wrong. just beware of aftermarket vendors who sell bootlegged piaggio parts

AF1 Racing customer support
I ordered a tall Piaggio windscreen from AF1 Racing. It took about 8 weeks for them to get it, and when they inspected it there was a small shipping scratch/smudge on the windshield. They offered me a $50 credit because of the damage, but I decided it was still early in the year, and I wouldn't be riding much for at least another 8 wks, so they will order me another one. Hopefully it will arrive a little earlier than 8 wks this time. But I was glad that they offered me $50 because of the scratch. I told them I was glad that they inspected it for damage prior to sending it to me. Good customer service. Some other places would have just gone ahead and sent it onto the customer and denied the damage.

Not the best picture but you get the idea.
It's on everything I own.
No longer do I get pulled out in front & cars stay farther back.
On the back on my cars too...people stop way back farther now...it kinda flows night or day.

Tall Windshield in Action
I went for a ride east of Phoenix and on the way back home I rode through a swarm of bees crossing the highway. One second I saw hundreds of black dots hovering over the road and the next second the splats started. I counted 22 hits on the windshield and zero on my riding suit or helmet. -- And no stings! Amazing.

So I have a 2009 400cc with the Givi windshield. I haven't really driven it too much in high speeds but I REALLY love the fact that it's adjustable.

I have been kind of having the itch to upgrade to a more modern MP3 but I'm a little confused about the windshields. I thought the newer stock ones were adjustable but also seeing that that may not be the case?

Please set me straight.

Thanks

OEM glass has no adjustments and does not work as it should protect me. I installed the ISOTTA SC4178 glass. It's great. I will take a photo and send it here.

Aren't these 3 holes for different height adjustments?

Thanks

I thought so too. Unfortunately no. There are no holes there. Here is my glass. It cost me $ 100

Extra Mounting Holes
At least in the case of the tall windshield, the windshield would come off the ends of the support rods if you tried to use the other holes. I would add, only a very tall rider would need a windshield higher than Piaggio's tall model.
The extra holes are probably for different windshield options.

Last weekend we took a ride with my wife. About 700 km. It rained three times. I haven't received a single drop. My wife got wet feet. We didn't use rain suits.
This windshield is great.
