can anyone tell me in details how to remove the front panel and how much space there is behind it to mount a better sounding horn...? maybe someone here has already done that mod, can you share it..?

I tried to remove all of the pertinent screws and then I started to pull from the bottom but I was applying a lot of force and I chickened out afraid of braking some tabs.

Here is a youtube video that shows how to do this.

I need to do this on my scooter too. One thing I would add is that breaking the tabs is not a concern for me, but losing the little metal screw holders is an issue. I already lost two of them. I think you need to order extras before you start. They are cheap.

Okay, it doesn't look like the video posted correctly. Do a search in youtube for "BV350 plastic pannel removal". [/u]

hehee
I have watched that video probably a dozen times and with ALL DUE RESPECT to the guy that posted it, it is very poorly shot and suffers tremendously from lack of DETAILS (the camera is not moving or zooming and sometimes is poorly aimed) when I tried to follow it some things do not match either, so something a lil more in details would be fantastic.

Start reading on page 309 of the workshop manual. See the link below.

https://manuals.wotmeworry.org.uk/Beverley/BV350/BV350%20Workshop%20Manual.pdf

If this doesn't help, then I would look at one of the scooter west videos on youtube for how to do it on a GTS. It would work about the same way.

Hey Bean, thank you for that link, it will help somewhat and I also posted something in a Youtube video by Scooterwest pleading for a Video showing how to go about this. Unfortunately not beeing very familiar with this scooter does not help and the "Close up" pictures shown in the workshop manual sometime are hard to understand (at least for me), hopefully I'll get another response that will help me even more but your link is definitely a good start.

I watched the GTS videos, unfortunately the GTS is a totally different beast when it comes to panels removal.

Bumping!
Same! I called a shop near me and they seem to think that the Stebel “could” fit, but they’re not 100% certain. I’d like to know before plunking down the money for the labor if it is goingt o come to nothing. The horn on the BV is a joke.

AF1 is advertising a wire kit for the Stebel Nautilus airhorn that would make it plug and play. They list the BV350 as one of the scooters that this works with. So a Stebel Nautilus should fit. However, there are different models of Stebel Nautilus airhorns so you still need to be cauful.

The one I bought came with a relay. You simply put the wires from the horn on the coil of the relay and bring a fused hot typically from the battery to one side of the points on the relay and the other side to the horn. Find a good ground for the other stab on the horn and Bob's your uncle.......

I haven't done this myself and I can't for the next month are so due to a sprained arm and fractured bone in my elbow (not from a scooter crash), but I don't understand why you would have to do all of that wiring. Why would you not just use the same wiring for the old horn when you take the old horn out?

Because the horn switch is designed for the small amperage draw of the tiny horn you use its' wiring to power the relay instead. The points (switch) in the relay is capable of handling higher amperage which a larger louder horn will require.....

I fit a Fiamm Freeway Blaster in my BV350 in place of the original horn. Here's a picture.

Call these guys and ask if it will fit. I have one installed on my GTS 300 and it is VERY LOUD! Scares the shit out of anyone in ear shot. Very gratifying when honked at cars that pull in front of you or someone texting while driving, etc. [/url]

Or you could go for the Fiamm that it is nearly a straight out of the box replacement and it doesn't required to find a location for the little air compressor.

Sound is not as high as the Stebel Nautilus but pretty close and much easier to install..

Here is a video of it:

Sorry dude but that Fiamm is not nearly as loud as the Stebel Nautilus horn. Also, there is plenty of room to mount the Stebel which is a single unit (compressor and horn). dB tests are not alll performed the same way. Some at close proximity to the horn and some at a distance. I’ve heard both in person. Not even close.

This is a link to the wiring kit that ScooterWest sells that works with a BV350 and has a 20 amp fuse in the middle of it. So apparently this works with the Stebel Nautilus horn that they sell. link below.
