Greetings. I’m using my all steel, one piece fuel & oil tank on a Rally 200. I ordered the only oil filter nipple that I could find for the bottoms of the oil tank and the thread pitch doesn’t seem to fit the tank and the filter looks crazy tall for the application. Am I crazy or is there another fitting out there? I came across the pic on the left in the NSM forum, is that banjo fitting legit? I’d hate to just “drive it home” and f*ck up the tank altogether.

The oil taps for Rallys are 2 part systems. They are super hard to come by. The bolt is hollow and then the tap can spin 360 degrees around the bolt. There’s two o rings that seal the gaps in the 2 parts. Looks like the tap you have on the right is for a P series. You definitely dont want to force it in there.

I’d try posting something on scoot.net. If not, hopefully someone on here can tell you a workaround.

i can give you a workaround....

speak to your local hydraulic engineer supplier

get a hydraulic bango connector and bolt as you would for hydraulic brake setup and drill a few extra oil inlet holes for the oil to seep into the bolt. connect and enjoy

warning - you may need to retap the thread in your tank - but its better that than an ornamental piece unseen

The size for the oil filter banjo bolt seals is M10 x 14 x 1 you can get copper seals in that size at any decent auto parts store or online. The original plastic seals were 1.5mm thick but all I could ever find was 1mm any metric copper seal washer assortment will have them included.
