I decided I'd had enough with my old carburetor and got a new 24/24 for my P200. Instead of the traditional air mix screw, this one has a 7mm hex nut.

Does anyone have experience with this thing? Can I switch it out with my old one? I'm not sure I like it and I hate change.

The business end looks to be the same, don't the newer vespas have the hex rather than the flat screwdriver?

I just cut it down and put a slot in it with a hack saw. No harm, no foul...

They aren't interchangeable.

Chop the brass one off at the first hex and cut a slot in it for a screwdriver. I've done it to every one I've bought. Saves lots of headaches.

I think one is for Spaco and other is Dellorto. I think Dellorto is ~1.5 turns out for baseline tune. Spaco ~2.5 / 3 turns out. Im pretty sure they each have a unique taper to the carb specific carb body. Can anyone else confirm this?

Like SoCalGuy said. Note the pitch of the threads on the two screws, quite different. You could put it in, but you risk stripping the threads on the screw, and worse, the carb body.

Like chrispa noted, different baseline settings, due to the tread pitch, not the taper though. Dellorto is course-pitch thread, Spaco is fine-pitch thread.

Solid info! Thanks for clarifying why the settings are different. I always assumed there was some internal passage difference that was the reason.
