Sir Jess,

I will display with pride and have tattooed on my ankle next to that exhaust burn scar. I mean everyone has one of those don't they?

Thanks brother!

I haven't been on much the last year and just saw this thread.

First cannonball experience was taking a tire to Jess in 2012.

Then the ride the entire event 2014 and 2016.

Heading to the start foe 2021 in less than a month.

Thank you Jess, bringing the tire was my pleasure and gave me a glimpse into what to expect should I sign up for the run. I suspect this will be my last one and I won't come close to bettering my 6th place position in 2016.

Jess, is there a legend somewhere that lists the badges or "awards" one can earn on MV? If not, can it be placed conspicuously somewhere?

Thanks.

Sorry, that's a secret. You have to learn it through osmosis.

Okay, okay. The closest I have come to a list is this post:

https://modernvespa.com/forum/post2464985#2464985

And that's now out of date with the addition of the Cannonball award.

Someone could make a wiki article, maybe?

I'm hopeful to have the cannonball award in a few weeks. What I'm wondering - a couple (3?) of our 500+ days qualify for some kind of certification - maybe an Iron Cheek or some such. Will that get an MV award?

edit:
It is the Long Distance Rider - Easy Rider certification for 500 miles in 12 hours. As half an iron butt, I kinda thought it should be the iron cheek.

Home now and recovering before doing a post cannonball write-up. This is the first one I didn't finish but do know that wbdvt and GotMojo are members of this forum that finished. I'm sure some of the other rookies are also finishers.

Question, if you were a rookie this time and finished more than half but did not complete the canonball does it still qualify here for the cannon?

From some of the stories posted it might be appropriate for anyone who even started this year’s Cannonball to get a special badge that looks like a tiny straight jacket.

Seriously. Kudos to everyone who even attempted it.

I hereby bestow the Scooter Cannonball Run award on wbdvt (who has already been notified via a PM exchange) and GotMojo (who is apparently unaware of this thread).

May they both wear it with pride.

For now, we're sticking to the "finish" as a qualifier. However, even that's a bit fuzzy -- as I understand it, one could miss part of SCBR and still finish, i.e. not be disqualified. Can anyone clarify that?

I sent you a PM with my understand of what "finish" is but Feb31st or 4in6iscool are the ones to give you a definitive answer.

Steve, you’re making a deal with the devil here. I should advise you that through history, very few people have ever come out ahead on a deal with the devil.

If I grant you this award, I will extract my pound of flesh in the process.

Still interested?

Jess I'll take that even though I don't know what I'll lose in the process.

However, I will do my very best not to be so vexing in the future.

Thank you.

My I have my 9 Ironbutts and 1 Bum Burner also ?

Thanks again Jess.

Your original account has been restored and has been granted the Scooter Cannonball Run award for your finish in 2012.

In exchange, I am retroactively applying a newer MV policy: a maximum of one award of each type per person. In fact, this policy was put into place specifically because of your unbridled thirst for more and more awards, which ended up breaking the forum layout. Your SS and BB awards now include every known date of completion, but we don’t have a specific date for five of the SS awards. If you supply those dates, we will update the award. The dates can be seen by hovering over the award with your mouse cursor. If you’re on a mobile phone, sorry, you can’t see those dates.

You might think this is unfair. I would remind you that (a) you made a deal with the devil, (b) you were warned that you were making a deal with the devil, and (c) this particular devil has a very limited tolerance for impolite behavior dressed as “honesty”.

Please behave.

Right, It's a good job that I kept my receipts . Additional Ironbutt dates on 09/05/15 , 24/05/15 and 28/05/16.

The 2165 mile ride from Calais to Valencia and back to Calais was run on 22/07/17 and 23/07/17 which I'll guess counts as two more.

Cheers.

I’ve updated the award. I have the following dates:
• 2013.05.04
• 2013.05.12
• 2014.06.07
• 2014.06.16
• 2015.05.09
• 2015.05.24
• 2016.05.28
• 2017.07.22
• 2017.07.23

Please advise if this is correct.
