Here’s a new one.

Was out riding today and my back tire hit a big pothole so hard the impact caused the choke to push out. The scoot started sputtering and coughing, died at the next stoplight and wouldn’t start. Pushed it over to the side of the road ... thought maybe an ignition wire came loose ... took me a few minutes to notice the choke knob was half way out.

Anyone else ever had that happen?

I can't fathom how that would actually happen, though I believe you that it did...

Must have been a hell of a pothole!

I was surprised too ... that’s why I asked if it’s ever happened to anyone else. It was a king-sized pot hole, a tooth rattler.

I washed and waxed the GL and SprintV today and they both look amazing. I should have taken a picture.

I hit the surface rust spots on the Sprint that I've been ignoring since I got the bike with some Ospho, which sorted them right out, too.

I'm pretty sure that was the first time the Sprint had been properly washed in at least fifteen years. I didn't realize how brown it was from until afterwards. Definitely worth the effort.

Today I fired up the P since driving 550+ miles from San Diego to Santa Rosa. Rode to the local scoot shop Rev Moto; and they turned me on to Working Class Scooter Club. Messaged them on IG and hope to ride with them soon. Anyone on here in the area? I’m here till Nov.

RevMoto in Santa Rosa had a few vintage vespas and lammys in their repair shed, and he says he has Robots videos on continuous loop, as they dont get many vintage to work on. Also have some vintage frames displayed around their lot. Super nice peeps and Im trying to get in touch with the local vintage club but dont have FB so trying IG.

I got some tips on good roads to scoot, and also will try to ride back roads to the winery once work starts in a week. Smoke from the fires are making the air quality bad so not gonna ride for a couple of days, but the wind is shifting soon.

Today I realised that not all my advice given may be 100% helpful... often it's of no help at all, but quite frankly, I don't really Care, ive been here long enough to not really need to answer the 80th question about what jetting to use in my 177setup or what gear to put in my box... just use the SEARCH ... I'm also not too concerned that your new nicely painted VBB is actually a bodge & while you have been lurking here for ages, you never actually took the interest in finding out about then before your purchase.... i just wanna ride (which sadly never seems to happen, as having a heavily modified 2-port VBC & always riding like it's stolen, creates an unreliable frustrating scooter!

However, life is good... I'm alive, we live in paradise (even though it's not currently in N.Z.), I've got my dream job (even though the regional area we live has no lockdown, my work is in metro Melbourne, which is in lockdown), & I merely need to sit up in bed in the afternoon to check the tides & decide if it's time to go fushing or not. I'm creative enough to renovate the house on my own (partner helps, and ensures I stay alive and fed) & make it look cool... that's life.

If you ever want to trade places for a bit, give me a holler.

Finally settled on the design for my Lambretta exhaust manifold

Nice design, I assume that one is 3D printed? You can make a casting directly from it without much difficulty. I've done aluminum many times but you will want cast iron. Have a look at how this guy does it, maybe give it a try. Good luck!

The core box is printing now, and the cope and drag should be done tomorrow. Will cast it in aluminum by the normal sand casting methods. Just using the 3D prints to test the fit and make the patterns.

Today i am at lost, a senior friend ask me to go find a cheap vespa for him, after i loon left and right hit this vespa ps150 1982 for $200 (basicly its alnost a win considering how they went skyrocket this day in my place), but theres always a but.. He didnt like the model and eager to find a sprint, and only gonna took engine, the front fender and the handlebar, and left everythinh else in my house, this is where i got lost i dont know what to do with the frame, slap my engine in and try to ride without a front fender, and yes after the rain i feel frest in my fave since the water backlast from the front tyre

I do try to build a bitsa and slap the handlebar but seeing it i keep on imagine how long it will take to make a replica of bitsa or one that look like it

And i got a new friend, a neighbour that just turn 15yo and want a cheap vespa so we build it for $100 not a show bike but it ran nicely and i can pass on the baton to him someday (if he can keep his spirit for vespa long enough till i can see my nephew ride with me)

ha yes this. There is one parked in a driveway by my work. Hasn't moved in years. But it does have fresh "not for sale" signs plastered on it.

fit one of these crimaz clutch pressure pad on my vnb today very impressed made a big difference in clutch pull force had to do a little bit sanding with a dremel tho , if anyone has grip problems in their left hand its well worth a try

Doing rings on a friend's "old" Malossi 210. Measured the old rings and they gap at 0,9mm. New rings within specs. I'm really impressed on how well the kit holds up. It was bought used on eBay UK (we don't know its past) and done another 30k Kms as is (did Malossi say rings every 10k??). Exhaust port and piston were worked by the P.O. and if you look closely, they broke through the stud's hole. Clever fix was to press fit a sleeve inside the hole and then drill it to 8mm. Port shape and measurements in photos. The engine was build by another guy so I don't know the exact port timings, etc. What I know for sure, is that it runs on an original 57mm cut crank and opened up rotary (per Malossi's instructions). The scooter runs solid and gets abused everyday since it's his daily workhorse...

Today… helped POIDOG with a GL floor rail… had a lesson in good soldering technique… and sanded back the whole bumper on the white P deciding it and the cowls will need a a full repaint.

Oh… and scooter rides for tacos and donuts!
(Adding back all the pounds we sweated off working in the Tejas heat.)

My wife would kill me, but that 50 is a sweet looking bike.
