Finally had time to finish the upholstery project I've wanted to do since I bought my used GTS in October! The scoot has a custom paint job and the original owner had some cheeky seat covers made to go with the paint. The vinyl was cracking on the piping and I didn't particularly like the lavender color chosen. The main color was also a little too yellowed for my taste - it's what us designers typically refer to as, "nicotine stain."

While, I like the vintage feel of the pleating on the seat cover, I also had visions of going back to the original style lines of the GTS seat, where the piping line hugs the seat lines and divides the rider/ pillion sections of the seat. In the end, I did a combo of the two ideas. I'm really happy with how this and my matching knee pads turned out. I detailed that in another post, https://modernvespa.com/forum/post2521627#2521627.

I know it's not a massive difference in the overall look, but for me, it's a significant improvement. I love the new lines of the seat and the gray piping is a very close match to the paint color. And I much prefer the color/ texture of the new white color. Plus this whole exercise gave me an excuse to buy a new-to-me industrial sewing machine. New toys are always good!

Finished!

The seat and backrest look lovely. Wouldn't it be great if you could get a matching floor mat!

That's a jewel of a GTS

The seat alterations are sharp

First time I've seen the phone/GPS bracket on the fly screen. Looks like hardware from another windshield. How has it worked for you? strong at speeds, bumps?

The phone mount was done by the original owner - I just replaced the phone cradle with a RAM cradle specific to my phone. It is all matching hardware that came from another windshield. In all honesty I don't use it much, but it does seem to be pretty stable. I haven't lost my phone or have the cradle lose it's position yet!
