The seat sensor on my 2008 mp3 no longer detects my butt. Is there a simple fix for this? It doesn't really matter I guess the only issue would be if I left my mp3 tilt lock engaged and engine running and someone twisted the throttle and it fell over.

Basically just want some opinions on if I should do anything to fix this or just let it be.

Edit: I did have some issue with the tilt lock control switch on the right handle. I replaced it with a spare used one I had to make the switch work again. Wondering if this could have any effect as I didn't notice if the seat sensor stopped working after the switch. Changing the switch did make the control work again tho.

Thanks!

Can't tell if you fixed the problem from your post, but search MV for "3k ohm Resistor" for a way to permanently bypass the seat switch for a couple of bucks.

I guess I wasn't clear enough, I've somehow through no deliberate action disabled my seat sensor.

Is this a problem at all? What's the point of the seat sensor? Why would one want it to work or not work?

Really not a good idea to disable the seat sensor. Example, you're standing next to scooter while it's running, you get on and accidentally bump the throttle, the scooter takes off, and falls over. Dragging you with it.

I don't disagree, but there are several long threads in the MP3 section about doing this, and no reports of fatalities.

OP was asking for solutions, and this would be one.

Yes OP was seeking a solution, best solution is to fix it. IE figure out the problem, not bypass a safety mechanism.

Pins 17 and 36 control seat sensor so a continuity check to be sure a wire has not been damaged.

I fitted a resistor to the fuoco /mp3 500 as i was drasticly altering the seat so it was comfy .I have had no problems with it , you just don't rev the engine when off the stand like a pratt.

My seat was modified and the seat sensor was kept in place and still works.
It is there for a reason.

If the bike was on it's centre stand it won't go anywhere it would just rev up . If you leave the engine running off the stand with the handbrake off and twisted the throttle it will still move off wheather you had the seat sensor working or not. If the engine was running and you had the handbrake on it may or not move depending on how good the handbrake was working. If the throttle is anything like the fuoco/mp3 500 then its a heavy one and unlikly to be twisted easily . Lastly why start the bike up or leave it running when your off the bike as your not in control of it .

To warm it up a little on a really cold day while you finish putting on your gear, if you are working on the scooter, you forgot something and have to go get it, dropped a glove and can't reach it to pick it up. How many more reasons to you want that someone may dismount or start a scooter without being on it? I can go all day
In most cases it is very easy fix.

My seat sensor stopped working 3 mths after purchasing a 2021. I figured my 250 lb arse was the cause, and if it was so important they would have made it more durable.
