Modern Vespa

Hi, when I leave my MP3 for a few days it is reluctant to start first time, fires then splutters, this morning and other day had to put it on the centre stand, after a few false starts give it some welly with the starter until revs pick up, rev it to 3000 for a few seconds and then it was ok.
I removed the airbox restriction tube (which makes a big improvement on performance) and maybe it's not getting enough choke (I know it's injected) but maybe starting mixture too lean?
It's fine after first start of the day, if left a few hours so almost cold but not quite no problem.
Any suggestions?

What is service history on the bike and have the valves ever been adjusted per Piaggio service schedule?

It had reasonable history (done 30k miles) up until the last year or so when it seems to have been neglected and sat idle through Covid by the last purchaser.
I had someone do an oil and filter change and general quick service with the MOT and changed a suspension bearing.

Manual suggests valves should have been done at 40k km or 25k miles.

I'll look at valves, is that an easy DIY, not obvious how easy it is to get to rocker cover on bike. Don't have a very local Piaggio dealer.

If not can you suggest an easier thing to check first😉

Looks a bit fiddly, don't back myself not to cock it up, swear a lot and lose bolts covered in blood from my knuckles somewhere that requires dismantling the whole scooter to retrieve.

What other symptoms would incorrect clearances have.

Ok, so I looked up other symptoms of valve clearances and what I found describes exactly what I have (stalling when cold).
I might just look for a general scooter mechanic nearby and get it done properly.

Interesting if it is the valves, suggests the service was probably not according to schedule as if they were done at 25k miles shouldn't have drifted in 5.
But when I got it throttle cable was badly slack, back brake pads non existent, disc scored, transmission oil low. Either it had a harsh last few thousand miles or the place just took the money and gave a stamp.
