Hi all- For the life of me I cannot get the oil injection pinion gear to release from the engine block. I want to pull it out for inspection after rebuilding the oil injection. Any ideas how to get this gear to release from the block? I have tried needle nose pliers with leather wrapped around the gears to no avail! It seems to be hung up on something??

Thanks,

Mike

Maybe try lifting the back of the scooter so that the rear tire is off the ground, remove the spark plug, put the scooter in 1st gear, spin the tire backwards a few times, then try lifting the pinion gear out. I don't know for sure if it will work, but it's worth a shot.

Darn! Didn't work! Should I be able to see the pinion gear rotate as I'm rotating the rear tire counter clockwise? There is a light movement to the pinion gear, but it will not pull out😡

It's cut to move vvvveerryyy slowly. Might have to travel a little further to see it spin. Shouldn't be anything holding it in other than teeth meshing. Keep pushing it in neutral while you pull up on the pinion shaft.

If it's really stuck in there, pull the clutch cover and see if you can see binding/ give it a little persuasion upward.

I guess I will have to pull the clutch cover off and see what is biding the pinion gear. Hopefully all the gears are in-damaged. The reason I started becoming suspicious that the oil injection was not functioning correctly was it didn't seem to prime after I took it apart to clean and replace gaskets. I also found what appeared to be 2-cycle oil in my crank case oil. 😡 Never ends!

Thanks for all the help! I really appreciate it👍
