Has anyone tried these? Would these fit into the limited space in a 2019 Piaggio MP3 500 US edition?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JGKMVNK?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_13EW734RSYKG6PV5KJ5F

I looked at the bulb in there and it is a very small orange "Osram 5009". Oddly enough Amazon recommends replacement LEDs that don't fit in there...

I tried aftermarket LEDs for the blinkers including OSRAM and nothing works/fits. In addition, the stock Piaggio relay is not LED compatible and causes hyperflash.

However, you can order the 4 Piaggio LED blinkers including the stalks and the relay from the Euro spec MP3 2018 and newer and swap those out and everything is plug and play.

The only thing you have to swap over is the pigtail from the old lights onto the new LED units.

Check my previous posts on this mod.

Turn signal relay

And here is the link for the Piaggio LED relay from the 2018 and up Euro spec MP3s.

Thank you as always Sbaert, you rock.

I ordered the bulbs and will report. My bike is an odd mishmash of ie and HPE parts, it has the LED rear and braking lights and the LED daylight strip at front (the manual they shipped with the bike doesn't mention that 🤣), so maybe it has the new LED compatible controller in it... and if not, hey, an Amazon return is just 5min away around the corner around here... 😜

As I try to be more do-it-myself, the fact my bike is an odd generational mongrel is... vexing. 🤣 Damn you Piaggio USA 😜

It is not. That is the way ALL MP3s came until 2018 when the Euro spec got LED turn signal stalks. The US spec only got the LED signal stalks for model year 2022 thanks to Washington.

P.S. You must and you will need to change the relay to the updated Piaggio relay if you want to run any type of LED blinker (stock Piaggio LED blinker or aftermarket LED bulbs or stalks).

There are no aftermarket compatible relays

FYI my manual doesn't show the front LED daylight strip, it was kind of a surprise when I converted the front bulb to LED...

Thanks for the info, sounds like another project I can handle.

The tiny little LED DRL strip was eliminated a few years ago.

It was probably either cost cutting or as replacement when the Euro spec MP3 got the bigger and much better integrated 2 stage DRL light built into the main headlight.

Or it was a combo of the 2, since that dumb little DRL strip costs outrageously as a spare part for something that adds practically nothing.

I like these corn cob lights, very bright
I left the covers off & put the screws in
These have the resistors built in & blink as they should
I don't ride in the rain, even if I did these kinds of bulb work fine when wet
& bright, very bright

The ones I linked to in my original message...

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JGKMVNK?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_13EW734RSYKG6PV5KJ5F

fit and work great in my 2019 500ie (US model) with no other modifications - just replace the existing ones. Also very nicely bright...

No hyperflash, just normal operation. Guess I did get lucky in the parts lottery some of the US MP3 500s are and my controller was LED compatible...

Guess the high beam and the courtesy light under the seat (which has actually burned out) are the last incandescent strongholds on my bike

PS: I have no clue what kind of bulb the "courtesy light" under the seat it... mentioned nowhere in the useless user guide.... grrr

Hello Folks
Based on PabloLie's suggestion and endorsement I installed the same LED bulbs from Amazon.

Since the comparison of LED vs regular bulbs and the modifications comes up fairly often I put together a video comparison of the two types. LED is much brighter. Like PabloLie, I did not experience hyper flash either because I already had the Euro Spec relay or it just wasn't an issue to start with. Regardless, I bought 2 packs of 2 bulbs and am happy with the results.

Youtube video with descriptive text comparing the two with pictures and product links.

If you switch to the LED bulbs and experience hyper-flash you'll need to install the Euro spec "Piaggio Blinker device with hazard" from EasyParts.

The "courtesy light bulb" is weird. No idea why its so weird when easier solutions could have been done but such is the weird Piaggio Mp3.

https://www.easyparts.nl/Bulb-p33569310

On the Parts Piaggio webpage its described as "Torpedo shapped lamp 12V-5W" or Part number 18 (071633) if anyone ever needs a replacement storage compartment bulb.

Thank you so much!!! I wonder why the previous owner removed it in my bike. Is there a known battery drain issue perhaps?

No battery drain that I'm aware of beyond it always being on if the seat is open. If I ever have the seat open for extended periods I just put something on the pressure switch to turn off. The switch is located near the seat hinge on the left side.

There is nothing unusual about the underseat torpedo style bulb, at least if you're familiar with European cars.

I replaced that one with a OSRAM LED torpedo style bulb as well a very long time ago.

Be aware that the torpedo style bulbs come in different lengths so be sure to measure yours first. I don't remember exactly what length mine is.

I got the same bulbs for my 2016 Mp3 500 sport (US model). They fit perfectly and are super bright. But i have the fast flashing now. I'm trying to buy the new relay from easyparts (still waiting for them to get back to me about the shipping price).

I installed these: iBrightstar Newest 9-30V Super Bright Low Power 7507 PY21W BAU15S 2641A LED Bulbs with Projector Replacement for Turn Signal Lights, Amber Yellow

https://tinyurl.com/2azuok4k

They just fit and are very bright.

They also flash fast. I've decided I like this. It looks more urgent and I'm sure it attracts more attention, which is always good.
