Modern Vespa

Finally got around to installing an "anti-dive" kit on my et3 (I know Patrick, I know ). I really wish I'd done this sooner - especially riding in stop-and-go traffic around the city all the time, I'm basically in perma-dive mode.

It's amazing what a relatively small change in suspension geometry does for how force is transferred to the shock. My only concern is I'm not sure this would be pleasant with sport suspension - it firms things up a lot on its own, and I feel like I'd probably only want to run it with sport suspension if I was doing a lot of performance riding.

I will say the Carbone instructions, in charmingly poorly-translated English, left a bit to be desired - I actually wound up taking it back apart and putting things together a little differently from the implied procedure in the printed instructions.

Can you take a pic with the carbon fiber dust cover removed next time you are out and have time? I can visualize it I think from the first pic, but want to confirm as I am a bit thick.

Xantu- you mentioned you wouldn't want it with a "sport"suspension. Does that mean stiff hard race suspension (Bitubo?) or does that mean everyday soft gentle suspension like YSS/ stock?

Oh I just meant the bitubo-type stuff sorry. I think it would be OK with the slightly stiffened shocks. Obviously I'm still rocking the stock squishy on this so I can't say for sure - just trying to translate my experiences with different shocks on my p2 and how this might feel (the guy in the video above has a bitubo with it so what do I know )

I can attest, anti-dive OR sport shock. Not both.

On the 64 smalldoor I have both a Crimaz anti dive and a Carbone shock set on lowest setting.
It is a little stiff but acceptable since the rear has PLC urathane bushings and another.

Very linear braking for a drum. More than enough stopping power fed the Malossi 136 powered scooter.

Sounds like the exact same for a Lambretta. Either use an anti-dive OR stiff springs, but not both.

Thanks I didn't know of this mod, huge improvement for the small frames! Jut ordered the BGM - Crimaz, Carbone … functionally all them seem like perfect clones.

I have a doubt concerning the installation of the anti dive bracket, if anyone can clear it out?

Am I reading correctly as not to install the 2 original spring washers? is this because of the bracket thickness leaves no room to tighten the nuts with the washers, no danger of loosening?

I guess the pin should be lubed no? sorry the basic questions but this seems a simple job that I'm doing myself, the "Italian like" English translation is not optimal...

Correct. I definitely would. Also note I managed to keep the rubber o-ring on the hub (clutch) side of the front hub pin because it flares around the metal but i could not re-use the rubber o-ring on the hub side of the new rear pin (the clutch side of the shock) - it's the wrong size and prevented the thing from tightening down flush. The pin comes with a grease groove instead so I glooped that up before pushing the shock on

The instructions are bad - I was unable to mount the new pin on the bracket and shock first and hub second. I had to mount it on the hub first, then shock, then had my wife push down a bit on the front with the wheel mounted to get it to line up with the bracket hole.
