Back in February, the owner of one of these bikes started this link about their beautiful GTV wondering how many were built:
2016 Vespa GTV 300 i.e Silver/maroon how many were made?

I fell in love. I don't need another Vespa, though I don't have a 300 yet!

I love the way it looks and there aren't that many of them. I should have bought the one listed below, but didn't.

If I find the right one with low mileage will it be just a pretty old 300?

If I could ride one of these older GTV's side by side with a new GTS 300 and the new HPE engine would the difference be dramatic?

PS. I'm just having fun dreaming about a new scooter. Try not to be mad at me for just wanting to talk about a dream. I'm pretending to be rational, but clearly not.

The 2016 GTV that got away

The 50 will soon be gone leaving space for something!

PS. For me the 50 was a Gateway drug. It was such an easy way to enter the Vespa world. Relatively low cost and no extra license needed. But once in, I was hooked and wanted more. IMHO, buy a used 50 because you will want another.

I have this exact 2016 GTV 300, and it's indeed a beauty. I've since had the full Malossi performance upgrade kit installed, and it'll really haul azz now (not that it was slow before - it ran great - I just wanted a bit more oomph). It's sitting at about 9,500 miles now.

There maybe a slight difference in power for the new HPE's over the older GTS's but generally speaking you will not find any major difference in ride quality.
I'd say go for it and take the advanced MSF course so you can enjoy the GTS at higher speeds on the highways.

Just one little scratch.

This is a candidate GTV. But the owner sadly let it fall.

It doesn't look too bad from a distance. The closeup shows the damage and the panel above the seam looks pushed in a bit.

Based upon another post on MV, it looks to me as though this could be touched up well.

Thoughts?

The lower "skirt" panel can easily be removed...a good shop should be able to respray it. Being as it's Silver, I wouldn't expect an exact color match to the original panels....but it should be close.

Another dent another GTV. This one a 2007 GTV 250ie with 4000 miles. The dent was made by the headlight on the front fender. Happened before 2010 with first owner. No reported front end issues.

I suppose I'd have to live with this dent in the leg shield. I'm sure there is no simple fix?

I like the portofino green.

I'm guessing the headlight because when you see a full picture, the head light would hit at that point and the head light trim ring is cracked there.

Is the headlight assembly on a gtv plastic? I would guess yes, i know the fender is. Smashing the plastic shell of the headlight assembly against the heavy steel of the legshield wouldn't make a dent like that unless the headlight was pulverised into tiny fragments.

You are right. The present owner bought it in 2010 and claims it was that way when he bought it and to not know how it happened.

It does seem odd anyone would buy a scooter with a dent like that and not ask what happened.

Having said that, is that dent really a big deal? It has been serviced by the local Vespa dealer. Does removing the glove box panel expose that dent from the inside?

Although the scoot is probably fine, it's the dishonesty and unknowing what really happened that concerns me. It is also possible that front fork is slightly bent - that's the sorta unknowing that concerns me.

Yes, I'm pretty sure if the glovebox was removed then a panel beater could have a decent go at pushing the dent out.

Steelbytes:
1. I really agree with you. The seller buys a 3 year old Vespa in 2010 with that big dent in the front and didn't find out how it happened from the guy he bought it from? Doesn't make sense! If he's not telling the truth about that, what else isn't true?

2. Is a panel beater a tool?

Cheers

I'd wager that scooter has spent most of it's life with that nasty crease because of the cost and complexity of getting it out. The metal has even split where the crease ends. Keep your money in the bank and wait for a cherished one-owner GTV to come along.

A panal beater is a person who removes dents from car bodies.

I think your earlier alternative with the scratching on the plastic skirt is a better candidate. A dent like that in the monocoque frame is darned near unfixable unless the scooter is torn down, the dent is pushed out and smoothed by a skilled autobody technician, and the scooter repainted. More money than you would want to spend on that bike, and why consider "living with it"? The whole point of a scooter like this is appearance.

And BTW, as steelbytes commented, that dent wasn't made by the headlight nacelle - (a) the nacelle wouldn't dent the body like that, and (b) the nacelle doesn't contact the body when the bike turns. That bike was in some kind of collision, and it hit something (or something hit it) fairly hard.

I have a friend out here in Seattle who just purchased a new GTS, to replace her Silver GTV. It has the Maroon seats, and back rest. Heated grips, and a nice Windshield. I think she may have the original short windshield which came with it.

She is asking $6K, I don't know the miles, but I do know it is always serviced locally and well maintained.

If you are interested I can get you both together and you can talk about it.
Here are some photos of it.

But of course. After it arrives safely. Also sold the primavera 50. Now the GTV can fit in my garage. Big profile change.

Nice looking bike Darrell. How many miles have you put on it? Done anything or added anything? I really like the green color!

I haven't ridden it much yet. I got it in September. It's got 280 miles on it so far. It is stock the way it came from the dealer. Not planning on anything yet to add to it so far.

I have the 2016 GTV 300 with maroon seats as well, silver.

I bought a black banana style seat with the white piping though, so i no longer have the maroon seats. I sold the maroon seat on eBay. Didnt realize this color combo was desired, or that not many were made.

Here mine is, before the seat swap to black banana with piping.

When I bought it, the upholsterer was unable to locate fabric that matched the maroon, so i had a mismatched topcase and seat.

I found the maroon split seat to be uncomfortable (pushes you up a bit), so I bought a black w/ piping that matched the top case.
