I'm still going to need to pull the cylinder to add that base gasket back, but if it's running well, that's a matter of deciding I need those last couple horses, which'll come in time.

What I really want to do is get the Smallie going, but that means clearing up my backlog of largeframe projects first. And money. Lots of money for what I'm planning...

But it's going to be a reed valve screamer, whatever I do. Maybe I'll splurge for a PipeDesign exhaust.

Oh don't skimp on the clutch basket… even if the basket on mine wasn't trashed, I think it wouldn't have took long to trash it…

There's no competition between the pressed basket vs CNC basket. It's light years ahead in terms of construction. Just the thickness of materials is evident.

But doing the maths… it still works out cheaper than a largeframe CNC clutch and it's better design.

No wonder those German and Italian companies work on so many smallframe parts…!!

Have you thought about the VMC ET7? Dirt cheap, aluminum and three part exhaust.

Sounds good to me:
I'd go one step further on the clutch. Get the Hartz 4 if you possibly can. Comes with proper basket and plates with thick tabs. Stings once but only once. I went first for BGM Superstrong and then updated to Hartz after much hassle.

The Hartz does look good… can't beat Honda plates…

With the Hartz, which engine cases are you using? V50 or primavera?

Does it rub on tire with the extra spacer if it's 3.00 tire?

Primmy cases for me with PK XL2 clutch cover. The XL2 cover with geared actuator is not needed with this clutch though.

It needed the clutch cover to be spaced out a tad with the supplied spacer and I made my own shims behind the brake plate and wheel hub to get them out 1mm.

You know what I have got the same problem with the 3)4 gear's slipping in and out my front wheel lock up but Hay l just kept pushing on for about 200 yards or so and I believe it is the clutch burnout. Hopefully a new plates may solve it just need to try and find a way to do it ✊

I was expecting that I'd find bent tabs on the clutch plates as a big part of the problem, but it was definitely the excess gear play and cruiciform replacement that finally fixed it.

It's a 52mm GPS speedo. The antenna is the black hockey puck on the mirror stalk. The two LED's on the blanking plate are turn signal indicators.

The trailtech is a tach, and mostly out of frame in the bottom right is a Koso CHT.
