It's an E5 requirement for the db killer to be not removable.

So whilst not very E5 compliant, has anyone had any experience of successfully removing a dB killer?

On reflection it looks like I should have bought the race version plus an additional down pipe with cat.

Would have been more than I've spent here but would have given me the option to remove the end.

I think the header without cat and the muffler with db killer combo will have a correct neighbour friendly, sporty sound.

Unfortunately without the cat it won't pass an MOT from what I can see.

I'll have to come up with a plan B!

are you really sure about that? looking at pictures like this makes me thing you could just dremmel the tack weld off and then remove the screw (and reinstert)

And most importantly no curry hook.

and I couldn't stick a box of beer between my feet (one of the many reasons that a vespa is better than a bike)

Another choice exhaust for the connoisseurs

When I get a moment I am going to post some pictures as it looks like the insert is held in place by more than just the welded-screw - the edges look almost joined.

It will hopefully make more sense once I photo it...

I recently installed an Akrapovic.

They were on sale!

I love everything about it.

Power, sound, volume and looks.

Ok so here are the photos.

The screw appears to hold the two pieces of exhaust together but do not do anything other than penetrate through the two pieces.

Visually the two parts of the exhaust appear to be joined but of course this could be just the paint and will break away once the screw is removed.

That said, looking at the photo (can't upload more than one from my phone) I cannot believe that pulling the dB killer out will work as easily as hoped…

Have tried to contact Remus but they're as much use as tits on a man, so hoping to draw on the combined wisdom of the MV forum!

maybe remove the weld (dremel etc) then remove the screw and see what happens. You can always put the screw back in if you have no success

The look of the clamp on that Nuke is really quite nice.

I would also be upgrading my swingarm to one of those slick SIP or Zelioni options to complete the clean look.

as i learnt from a wise man that a engine with sports exhaust would run lean!!
the tuning as i have dialed it in doesent do anything else then give it a little more gas.no effect boost...just to be nice to the engine.

and yes....i love the sound of my doubble remus, i run it with the noice killer in!

I added a malossi lambda emulator when adding my arrow exhaust. made zero performance different so remvoed it.

My interest in an aftermarket exhaust would be a quieter and sleeker if possible. Anyone know of an exhaust that is quieter and does not negatively impact performance.

A short while back Akrapovic introduced a cover for the front end of their exhaust, carbon fibre? It matches the outlet cover, and looks quite neat. It is held on by two screws going into clamps around the pipe, a little fiddly to set up and align but very simple to remove to get at the springs.

My Akra has migrated from my GTS250 to my GTS300. It was silver but is now black, and I have replaced the wadding twice.

Hi I'm a PM tuning fan... Have one on my GTSand RT$ and have lasted me fro 12 years and 15 years... Oomphy and great sound...whereas in London with rain and salt on the roads the stock ones last only 3 years.
Saw this twin exhaust last mont, don't know the make , but looks stealthy.

To me, the value of everything is gauged individually. I feel it's worth it to drop some scooter weight and have a different look and sound. I am considering adding this updated model exhaust to my 2022 GTS, I just need to change the header pipe to the Euro 5 std, which is available too. This costs some money for sure, like all good things.
Anyone know if changing the header and installing this new model Akropovic might cause any running issues on a 2022 US model GTS?

With considerable trepidation, I ordered this muffler. It arrived today about week early. Cost about $140.00 including shipping. Very well packed. Not a scratch. Looks quality. Arrived in 7 days!

Now to find if it fits, though it looks like it will "slip on"

Do you know what it does?
The Lambda Emulator is one of the most misunderstood tuning parts offered by Malossi.

The stock GTS tries to maintain an air fuel ratio around 14.7:1, which is best for emissions, but not for performance or engine longevity.
The Malossi Lambda emulator lies to the ecu so it richens the mixture to around 12:1, which is better for the engine, and better for performance. The ecu only listens to the o2 sensor on a Piaggio scooter until about 6000 rpms, so above that, it doesn't do anything.
Most people who think they don't work aren't sure what they are supposed to do, and when they don't make the vehicle suddenly able to wheelie, think they do nothing. What you will notice is that the bike will run cooler, idle and take off smoother, and have more low end pickup. But it's subtle. If you pound the bike hard, then come to a stop, the bike will idle smoother, and take off better. In addition, the combustion chamber will be cooler, and cool faster.
Make sure to disconnect the battery for at least half an hour when you install one.

I have an emulator for my HPE and didn't get better 0-40kph or 0-60kph which are my basic measurements so I removed it. What I never got around to testing properly is 20-40 and 20-60 as they might have shown a difference.

What you're looking for is smoothness off the bottom. Once it gets to 6K rpm, no matter the speed, the ecu ignores it. So when you open the throttle and the engine races up past 6K rpms to accelerate, it's not going to affect anything.
