And we're back up and running!
USA USA USA!

Anyways got Bear started up again. Even set up the SIP speedo finally!
Would go for a test ride but I gotta pick the kids up from school in 3 mins. It'll take me 10 to get this thing outta the shop. Maybe after I pick them up I can sneak out for a few.

Only issue was, once I revved the engine my headlight went out. Brake and tail light still work so I'll investigate that when I get back home. Excited!

Replaced the bulb in the headlight. Kicked her over and success! Sike. Bulb blew almost immediately. First the high beam then the low. So that stinks.

Anyone know what the cause of that is? I'm assuming the regulator or the Koso AC/DC converter?

Double-check that the positive wire up to the headset is on the regulated side of things. The issue is going to be where that headset wire hooks up back at the regulator, because you're getting a voltage spike when you rev the motor and that's blowing both the bulbs that are on that circuit.

Thanks! I'm not sure what I'm looking at here though. I have the wires set up like the diagram. Where the single blue comes from stator and triple blue comes out. I tapped into the blue wire for the turn signals that comes out of the regulator, which then connects to the brown from the speedo and the red from the Koso AC/DC converter.

Is that the wrong place to tap into? The other two blue wires from the regulator go to the brake and horn should I swap over to one of those two instead?

Sorry. Electrical is not in my wheel house

Basically, with the two yellow wires, the input from the stator goes on one of them and all your other electrics go on the other. That diagram label both sets of blue wires (3), but in reality, they're different--one is regulated and the other is not.

So just as simple as switching those two around?

Seems like it. Put the brake light (since that didn't blow) into the tail light and it worked and didn't blow! Now I need new bulbs now though. Hopefully they'll be here by Friday.

Thanks Chandlerman!
It'd be nice if that info was included in the wiring diagram though.

It's not about switching them around, it's making sure that all the bike's electrics are on one side of the regulator so the only thing on the other side is the stator.

Direction doesn't matter with AC because it's...well...alternating.

There's a pin that holds the pedal in there. You gotta push the pin out from the bottom of the pedal.

From Tips n Trix thread:
Ginch wrote:
I have two Super frames and they each have a slightly different angle on that pin. So I would try to work out which angle is going to be easiest to remove the pin from. From memory I think the pedal has to be pushed fully down to get access to the pin... have a look at the pedal itself to confirm.

Hope these pictures are of some help.

The angle on this one is about 10-15 degrees off that seam line, where the other one is more like 30ish.

On some bikes you may need to remove a piece of floor trim to push pedal down enuff get good access to that pin or at least pull the rubber strip out.

The hardware is still attached! Apparently the spring wasn't full twisted in there. I had a very hard time installing it.

Gonna swap back to my upgraded fork from the twisted frame bike I think. That spring is kosher at least and it has the dampener too. Just gotta swap out the 10" stuff and put it back to 8".

Then I'll send this fork out to get the bracket welded on for a dampener and then swap back again, reason being, only this one has fork stops. Unless I can rig some up somehow?

I like to stick stuff like regulators in place with high-strength velcro for ease of removal for whatever reason.

High strength Velcro is what I used. Shoe goo works and so does silicone sealant. Velcro is best though since it's easy to remove if something stops working.

Had a little bit of time this afternoon to swap the fork bits over to the fork from Bluey.

Wasn't too much trouble aside from forgetting that the brake shoes gotta go on before the axle and the fender has to go on before the bearing race and dust shield. So had to redo those but aside from user error it was simple. Should have it in the bike before sunset tonight. Which is a good idea since the bike is outside. Couldn't get it back in the shop with the front spring being disconnected.
Added bonus of using the dampner. The pogo shock with a very powerful 177 is like riding on the moon.

Infuriating honestly.

So decided to rig up the Vespa fork I have using those spacers for the rest of the riding season, which is likely only a few more days. Then when I shut down for the winter I'll get the Allstate fork welded with a bracket and use that one from here on out.

And I also think I'm over this friggin SIP speedo. Kicked her over earlier and the speedo didn't turn on. I'm sick of that stupid thing not working.
I know it's a long shot but does anyone have a VNA speedo they don't need?
Welp. It's in the frame and the gap below the threads up top is gone so that'll do for now.
Here's the spacers under the dust shield.

I have a decent nearly new repop I used for a short time. I stuck a drill motor in its backside and it still works good all the way up to 20 and hopefully faster on your scooter!
It has already clocked well over two miles PERFECTLY!
Besides my quick check, it was FULLY tested and certified by the original manufacturer.

Perfect artsy shot! Bear looks amazing. ❤️ that raw metal.

Some of your "things didn't go quite right" comments are really making me snicker. Sorry, but it's ruefully funny to anyone who's been there, done that.

Keep up the great work😊

Thank you!

Ran into another problem today. Rode Bear around the house to bask in the sun and collect her some vitamin d. But when I kicked her over I noticed none of my lights now work, they did 2 days ago.

So I ordered a POS speedo and once that arrives all the damn parts to that SIP speedo are going far, far away.

Already have the separate CHT and RPM gauges so I'll just run those instead. So frustrated with that damn SIP speedo.
Made it outside at least!

I'm actually glad to hear this because I've been debating for a couple years if I should pony up the cash for the bling Speedo. I most definitely will save that cash for something else...

So thank you for this feedback!

I removed the headlight and checked the volts there

I have ~9v at the high and low beam wires and ZERO on the yellow wire that feeds the pilot light.

Both the tail light and brake light have no volts
Red wire coming from the stator has 160+ volts (fluctuating between 160-190)
White wire from stator has .6v
Black has zero
Blue has ~20v

Can anyone decipher that for me? What am I seeing here and what needs to be done/checked next?

Edit: just checked the voltage at the VAPE regulator. One wire has ~20v the other has under 1.
