Modern Vespa

Okay, I've seen other cities do this. I wonder if we can get one going on in the NoVa / DC area?

The Rules:

* The boundaries could be the greater DC area.

* To start, someone posts a photo of their scooter with a landmark, sign, etc. Clues may be given along with the photo.

* Individually other participants ride to the same place and get a photo with THEIR scooter at the same/similar spot.

* The first person to "tag" the photo by posting their photo with their bike gets to post the next photo for people to find.

If no one is able to identify the tag, the poster can give progressively easier clues until someone finally says "AHA!" though please don't post the location of the tag until after someone else has tagged it. The hunt is part of the fun.

I'll start off with this easy one.

Sorry, not meaning to high jack your thread here, BUT, I grew up there. Infact, Graduated from Chantilly High. My house used to stand on Stringfellow RD, that is until the county pushed it over and made that lovely commuter lot right there by 66.

Sorry for the delay. I road out to Paw Paw WV yesterday. Got a great shot of the scooter in front of a castle but figure that is a little far.

Now I am having trouble resizing the photo I have.

Man, this is quickly moving away from NoVa and out into the sticks!

I think I know which Five Guys that is. I'll have to get it Thursday. Bonus - I'll get a tasty burger too.

EDIT: That's not the sticks. I thought it was Manassass but it's not. I KNOW which one it is.

From my perch near the Pentagon, so much of NoVA is the sticks.... Loudon, Prince William, the far reaches of Fairfax County, etc. It is easier for me to get to Silver Spring than to some parts of NoVA.

Wife is going to BITCH at me for wasting my time and gas. I'll tell her it could be truck tag and would be driving the F250 Super Duty Diesel at 15 MPG & $450+ a gal.

My understanding is that the original Five Guys location, somewhere near Baileys, no longer exists.

What I'd like to see here is In-N-Out, the California chain.

Hmmm, that gives my an idea - scooter tag at our favorite places to eat. My picks would be very heavy on Asian places.

BTW, is that meet up at the Italian place in Fairfax still on? Is it this week?

Ugh. I am familiar with In N Out and we aren't missing much. Mediocre burgers with a lot of attitude. They have a "secret" menu that's not in writing. You have to be "in the know" to order the things off it. The times I wanted to order stuff by description they hassled me because I didn't know their stupid cute names for everything. The stupid names are important because the viral advertising aspect of it is the only thing that seperates In N Out from Macdonalds.

I'll take Five Guys or Fosters any day.

Now what I am jealous about is that Cali has L&L Drive-Ins (a Hawaiian chain). The closest one to me is in New York - kinda far for a Loco Moco.

I recommend Elevation Burger in Falls Church.

As an aside I stopped here on the way home to get coffee'. This is the best coffee in the DC area. Our Oahu bruddas in No Ka Oi SC may recognize it - the other Ba Le is in Aiea near my old house.

Off thread, but love the BA LE restaurant ... best Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches in Fairfax County. Try the shredded chicken sandwich, it is wonderful. Maybe a good place for a weekend lunch Northern VA get-together ... my wife is Vietnamese, I could talk her into this one ...

I had been going here for years when I lived in NoVa on and off. When I moved to Hawaii there was a Ba Le with the same symbol. At the time there were only two, one in Va and one in Hi. They were run by brothers or somesuch. Odd coincidence.

I also like to eat here. I like the fact that you don't order "large" sandwiches, you order "long" ones. I get a sick giggle when I order a "long pork" sandwich. They taste really good though!

EDIT: Yes, I will also be happy to go here for food pretty much any nice weather day.

Man, I thought that was a hard one (otherwise I wouldn't have given a clue). Make sure you are going to the picture ABOVE Ba Le! I only put Ba Le in there because I happened to stop by on the way home.

I was wrong in my thinking. I thought it was the birchmere even though you clearly stated the same road . I will search today

Actually that's a pretty good guess. I think the Birchmere does have a similar mural and has a "B" in it.
