I just ordered mine in white with red stripe. I was curious about how many people say its hot ordered a dark sun absorbing color or just any jacket is hot?
I'd say it's a hot jacket over 80 or so. But I grew up in the south, so to some extent, I'm probably a bit more tolerant to the heat. If I ride when it's near 80 or hotter, I end up sweating buckets with the 5.0. That and the particular placement of the velcro at the neck are my main complaints about it... which really isn't bad overall. For me, it's a 3-season jacket. Everything except real summer heat.
I just wish there was a true mesh version of it. As in, almost completely mesh, with a removable liner, like most other jacket brands have (in colors other than black and silver). I dislike the mesh jacket I have now because it doesn't fit nearly as well as my 5.0. If I could get an exact duplicate of my current 5.0 in mesh (color, big reflective stripe, even the annoying velcro), I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
The jacket has been holding up very well. I haven't been wearing it during the winter because it is not water proof and does not have an insulated layer which I appreciate in my Cortech when it is cold.
How clever of them to say that it is water resistant but not water proof. Have you tried wearing it in the rain since you posted?
