Modern Vespa

As I was looking at the miles I have logged on my scooter since last May, it made me wonder how long one of these engines can go before they need to be rebuilt. I have heard around 25K, but I have never had anyone confirm that. I'm sure too it depends on how you drive and take care of the scooter with oil changes, etc.

But does anyone generally know how many miles one can expect to get out of GT200 before an engine rebuild????

My advice would simply be "you'll know when it needs it"

These engines are high quality, they won't be going anywhere soon. 25k should still see good heatlh.

Run it into the ground. I have an ET4 with over 24,000 miles on it. Still runs great.

Spock, have you had to do any major repairs during that time aside from the scheduled maintenance?

I agree ride it until it breaks. The let us know.

I had a malossi top end, variator and polinni upgear kit, put on around 5,000 miles. Aside from that, the only real scare I've had with the bike is when the fuel tap went bad and flooded my engine. The engine has been solid. No problems.

We just had a tech return from "Vespa School" where he says he heard the instructor talk of 40,000 mile Vespas with original engines that ran just fine! Change your fluids and give your scoot the lovin' it deserves and it won't let you down!
