So since I was in High school(class of 2002) Ive always wanted a Vespa, probably due to listening to MXPX and i always liked the retro, sleek look they possess. Recently all my friends have been getting Honda Ruckus' so i decided what a better time to just go ahead and get my dream scooter. The local dealer in Macon,Ga(Capitol Cycle) was contacted yet they didnt have a color I wanted, So they called Motoretta in Atlanta. There was a Mediterranean Blue S50 being leased as a display model to one of the Urban Outfitters in ATL so I went and checked it out. A few days later it was mine. I live in South Florida and the S stays in GA so I have to go periods of time without seeing or riding it , but ill keep updating its progress.
Loading the bad boy up from Motoretta, not really digging the decal kit so its going to come off

Sweet, lovin' that med blue. I think they only offer that color on the S50's and not the 150's. Agree the green in the italian roundels don't go good with the blue but RAF roundels would be great if that's your thing

I just love that color. Haven't gotten the chance to see one in person yet. I think the Italian roundels are actually quite striking against it. I bet pretty much anything would be!

First Upgrades
Alright i got some updates on the scoot I decided to Name him (he's a he) Leo, after Leonardo, ive always had an obsession with the ninja turtles so it just made sense. I forgot to take a pic of the Leo sticker i put on the top box, but its there.

DIY reflectors
Got tired of the bright orange reflectors but rather than plug the holes knock off the reflectors, mismatch the paint in the process i just decided to smoke them. Easy removal and $15 transparent smoke spray can from advanced auto parts. a couple coats later and i made them slightly darker than the signal pods but they still reflect a little.

Man I want that smoke flyscreen bad, real bad. I'm alsoleaning towards the vespa crash bars as opposed to the Faco bars. My S150 is paid off so I'm looking to accessorise some more. Great scoot ! Nerd emoticon

Make sure if you go through a certified dealer/shop that you ask specifically for the "S" crash bars, if you like the setup i have. The shop i went to tried to just sell me on the Lx ones that connect where the rear vespa s logo used to go as opposed to up under the seat. Personally i like the way these bars look much more and the lines they add. I guess these "S" bars are somewhat new, theyre similar to the GTS' but the shop i went to had not seen a set of these yet, the part number you can get right off the vespausa.com website.

Installed the variator and dropped off the Vespa along with the 78.8cc upgrade kit plus power cam at capitol cycle in macon ga. Variator really aided in the acceleration of the scoot and gave me prolly 3 mph increase in top speed.

Separately again I don't know what it is about my luck with vendors. I had a question about the install of the power cam. I call malossi USA based out of ny(bc scooter west wasn't open ) and had a question about seating the valves. The guy sounded like I was annoying him simply by calling him in the first place. After telling him my question he says "well..did you read the directions". I say yes and he says "and???...." Then tells me he shouldnt be answering my questions about the malossi product i have bc i didnt purchase it from him and ends with "try us next tjme" Just a complete D bag. I call scooter west two days later and talked to two people. Both of which were extremely helpful.

Ill keep y'all updated on the scoot after I break the motor in

I have purchased the Malossi Kevlar belt and high flow air filter. I am going to attempt to put the factory roller weights back in (heavier than the malossi multivar that come with it) and see if it will extend my top end speed. Should have it all done around thanksgiving. Can't wait!

finally some video of me on the vespa some cruising, some uphill climbing, some downhill speeding. holds 40 on strong uphills easy, climbs to 45 on slight uphills. Max 48mph which is less than it was before I installed the kit when i had just a variator i figured out it was bc vespa had a recall on my cdi and it actually lowered what i was reaching :/ but it hauls ass and i leave all my ruckus friends in the dust although theres no video of it when i go at about half throttle.

Some stocked up parts
Still waiting to go on the scoot

Got the White Walls in can't wait for these to go on
External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

The Buzzettis came in, i was worried if they would not fit. They make a slight contact with the S bars but if the passenger has the feet on them they dont create enough force to compromise the bars structure.

Done very well. Thanks for the history on what you have done. My wife has a lx50 with a custom paint job candy floss pink. She loves it. For Christmas she got the malasi 90 cc kit going in in the next couple of weeks. Your post were a good read. Do you have a pic with the white walls?
