I bought my GTS May 20, 2006 (date fixed).

Just in time; moments ago, March 28th, 2007, with 53 days remaining to use it, I received my very own, wallet sized and easily transportable Piaggio/Vespa Roadside Assistance Program identification cards!

I've been waiting at the mailbox 312 days and can now ride my scooter with added confidence. Thanks Mr. Larson at Piaggio!

How's you day goin'?

By the way, make sure the phone number is correct. Seems to me I saw on the Vespa website they've changed the number recently.

Really, I know they have a not-so-caring rep., but someone should at least say something to VoA about this. Maybe at least they's extend the assistance until one year after you receive the card. I know, who am I kidding???

Today my wife received her cards in the mail - purchase date 4/8/2006 - expiration date 4/8/2007.

Gee, thanks Piaggio USA - you guys are REALLY on the ball..........NOT!

I think Erik Larson needs to receive a huge number of "thank you" emails.......

Me too. And I bought mine 5/13/06. I thought it was going to be an offer to buy an extended warranty.

How funny.
Mine came in the mail today. I bought on 8/1/06. I now have 4 months of "road side assistance" remaining.
Nice!

The card does not matter as the road side plan has your vin # in the system . I have only used it once and that was a month after the purchase of my GTS250 and I did not have the card or sticker yet. No complaints here.

I have never received that card. I am not sure they would have shown up around here anyway, Being in the boonies does have its drawbacks, Beale.

I never received a card, either, having purchased my Vespa GT200 on September 21, 2005. Too late now to do any good, but thankfully, I didn't need it. I had a friend come get me and the scooter when I had a flat tire last year.

Mine came in last week too. In 4 months my LX150 will be out of warranty. Apparently they do one big mass mailing a year.

I asked and asked and asked about the extended from day one (I bought mine on 1-5-06) and was given the bum's rush. Later after the dealer appealed to Piaggio, they said the would "allow" me and one other person who took initial delivery to get the extended, as we were "supposed to buy it within the first 90 days". We tried, they "didin't know how to input it".

I paid my 350., to the dealer and after over 3 months of them NOT being able to "input it into Piaggio's system", I simply got a refund and went about my merry way.

Even still, I have NEVER seen any Terms and Conditions regarding the extended, I don't know anyone who seen them, and I assume there are some exclusions, etc. which are involved that the don't want you to know about! That's typical of extended anyway. Ususally (in my experience) some type of disappointment involved when a claim needs to be made....

Just my (cynical) .02 cents worth.

It changed Dec. 8, the new number is 866-232-0083. Is that the number on the card, or the old one? It would be amazing if they mailed them before then, and you're just now getting them, but it would be even more amazing if they mailed them since then, but left the old number on it.

Please remember which entity we're talking about here. It wouldn't surprise me in the least.

A company that went public last year?

Actually I'm using it as a reminder that I need to take it in, so I can have a pre-warranty ending inspection done.

I've had 6K trouble free miles, and looking forward to many, many more.

Here is the response I received from Vespa USA today:
Quote:
Thank you for contacting Vespa USA. Customer feedback is important to
us. We apologize for the lack of explanation. Our roadside assistance
company has recently changed. The membership kit you received was for
your coverage with the new company. There was not a membership kit with
the old roadside assistance company that you would have received as this
was not a service they offered.

You should have received information about roadside assistance from your
dealership at the time of purchase of the vehicle, though it also would
have been indicated in your welcome letter that our system indicates you
should have received in May/early June 2006. Of course if you had any
questions previously regarding your warranty coverage, including
roadside assistance they should have been directed to your dealership.
Again we apologize for any confusion.

yeah, the number is 866-232-0083
If your dealer put in all the warranty info into the system when you purchased the bike, then use the #.

Apparently in the European market a 2 year warranty is standard?

Not to beat a dead horse, (OK, I'm beating a dead horse) but I brought up this topic (and the owner's box problems) on 2strokebuzz the other day, and Andrea from Scooters Originali pointed out that the original roadside assistance company did not issue cards, so the cards were from the new roadside assistance company that took over in December (when the phone number changed).

http://2strokebuzz.com/index.php/?p=3571#comments

So 3 months for a new company to get up to speed w/Piaggio, prep a database, print cards, and mail them out isn't too bad. The bigger question is if you were properly notified (by the dealer and/or Piaggio) when the phone number/company changed.

No one has satisfactorily explained "the box" snafus, though.
